I am looking to buy a new pair of boots. They will be used on a plains game hunt in Namibia, and a Buff. hunt in Zim.
What is your choice for the very best boots for this terrain?

Dr. C,

Everyone will have a favorite, but I have put a lot of African miles on these boots and have been very happy with them.

Rocky Upland Boots

They are very lightweight, comfortable, have soft (quiet) soles and provide a lot of ankle support.

IMHO, any type of upland bird hunting boot is a good place to start when looking for new boots for Africa.

Regards,

Terry

I bought a pair of Danner walking shoes....not at all like boots but my feet loved them and I was very comfortable in them all the time....I'd do it again!!

I bought me a pair of custom boots in 1987 and have had them resoled 3 times now and they are still going. The best boots i have ever had. I got them from http://www.russellmoccasin.com/index.html
They are quite, comfortable and fit well. After the break in I have had no complaints. I've used them 4 times in Africa.

My PH recommended Dexter boots and I got a model called Grand Canyon. They are a low chukka style, goretex lined with a soft rubber sole. They work fine for hunting but the real test was walking around SCI in Reno for two days. My feet didn't hurt a bit!

Blacktailer, You are correct about the SCI show in Reno being a real test. I wore my second most comfortable pair of shoes and my feet ached for three days after.
Thanks to all for the suggestions so far.
