Several months have passed since my last post which provided an update on assistance to the Smythe family following the tragic passing of Phillip in late December. In case you missed my article in the Spring 2021 edition of DSC’s GameTrails magazine, the Foundation made four grants totaling $90,000 during the 2020 fiscal year. In addition to the grant made to the Smythe family in December, the Foundation made an additional grant earlier in the year to a trust set up for the children of a professional hunter Barry Style who was killed in an airplane crash in late 2018. This was Frontline’s third grant to the trust set up for Barry’s children. In August, two Texas Parks and Wildlife biologists were killed in a helicopter crash in Texas’ Big Bend area while surveying desert bighorn sheep. Frontline made grants to families of these individuals.

Since it was formed in 2014, the DSC Frontline Foundation has made 23 grants totaling over $289,600 to recipients/survivors (11 fatalities and 8 serious injuries). These numbers do not include donations the Foundation received that were directed to specific individuals or survivors. The generous donations of like minded individuals in the hunting and outdoors community have provided a lifeline of support that is life changing.
