I recently won a 2x1 ten day auction hunt at and RMEF banquet with Safari Afrika in South Africa. I have never hunted in South Africa before and know next to nothing about this outfitter. Have any of you hunted with them? If so, please share your experiences with them - good, bad and other. | ||

Richard and Ruth if i remember i did not hunt w them but met them and they seem to be very nice bet you have a grand time with them you may be able to trust her cooking as well Anyway it matters not, because my experience always has been that of---- a loss of snot and enamel on both sides of the 458 Win---- | |||

Admiral, it will be a lot more luxurious than other hunting in other countries. I hunted SA in 2013 for the first time and it was more like the Hilton than a hunting camp. "Never look a gift horse in the mouth". Some outfitters occasionally donate hunts to various hunting organizations in order to build up their business. Rest assured they will do everything they can to provide you with a great experience. RSA is a great place to have your first African safari, as it has much better infrastructures than some of the other countries. Enjoy. BH63 Hunting buff is better than sex! | |||

I have dealt with Richard. I and my wife bought nearly $1,000 worth of African home decor items from him and his wife at the RMEF convention this year and afterwards. Stand-up and honest folks. Southern Africa in general is "Africa light;" which is to say, wonderful climate, good food and wine, and fine accommodations. You did not note what's on the hunt list, Admiral, but if you have a say in it, would strongly recommend you look into using that Searcy .500 nitro rising bite to take a Cape Buffalo in the Hoedspruit area. An old beast, beaten up hard boss, horns worn down under 38 inches should be relatively inexpensive (PM me). That area is some considerable distance east of where Safari Afrika is based in Potgeitersrus. As I recall, most of the farms up there north of Pretoria are fairly small, high-fenced so check with Richard about exactly where you would hunt what. Expect you'll enjoy it. Regards, Tim | |||
