I'm off to RSA for a week of wingshooting tomorrow.

I've got as far as cleaning the guns and ringing ahead to order 10,000 12 Gauge shells for the week. That's about it

It's strange how things creep up on you!!

I'd better get cracking.

If any of 'em are 2 1/2 inch cartridges and you have any left, leave 'em with Denny and I'll buy whatever you can leave!

They're as rare as rocking horse doo doos here!

Steve,

I will be in Nelspruit on some non hunting business until next Friday so if you want a cold beer and a bit of a braai one evening, give Dennie a call and we can arrange something.

I have a RSA mobile but can't for the life of me remember the number!!

Robin, the team last year shot 16,000 shells in the 5 day hunt so I thought I would take it a bit easier!!

Guns, ear defenders toothbrush and pants are packed. For everything else there's Mr Amex.

I keep threatening to go on a proper safari but these bird hunts are just so much damn fun I struggle to say no. Just booked my flights today for a ten day hunt in August too with a bunch of mates!! Time to order another 10,000 shells... dancing

Kiri,

Best of luck with the business and the shoot. I'll take good care of Douglas in the meantime. Yes! You do need to do a REAL safari soon.

Thanks Guys,

The Video camera is packed and the I-Kam glassess are in my bag so I'm hoping to get a couple of good minutes of footage through the week!! (My video skills really are poor as I get distracted by the shooting...)

Steve, I will call you when I'm over there and I think we will be looking at Wednesday night or Friday night if that works for you? I think the other days are already booked with work.

Fairgame, I'll see what they have in the duty free in the way of landrover parts. Wink

Nick.

South African shooting is excellent. We do trips for doves only or mixed bird shooting where you still shoot two hundred shells per day. I'm packing the video so hopefully I'll be able to show you exactly what it's like.

This trip is just getting better. I got on the plane and got upgraded so I'm typing from my bed with my pyjamas!!!

I'll be dreaming of the doves and perhaps my first natal francolin.

Hey Steve,

I've sent you 6 slabs of 250 up to Dennies. That was all that was left at the end of the week, which is justr as well as we nly ended up shooting one session per day on the doves and a bit in the afternnons!!

They are Hull 28g 7.5's and are pretty much as good as they get.

Final tally for the week was a little over 2,000 doves. Doug shot 500, Christine finished on about 350, Guyan shot about 500 and I finished close to 700 for the week (not bad out of 5 slabs!! Wink )

I'll post some photos when I get home tomorrow and I'll let you know what dates I'll be back in June so we can have a rematch round the Braai.

Well technically I could also claim an Ostrich but considering It was immobile and at 10 yards I'd need a degree of artistic licence more than I'm comfortable with even on the internet!! Wink

I've been going through the videos and pics and they look pretty good.

Here's one from my phone with a part of the bag after a couple of hours.
