Mike, the first Leopard from Kenya in SCI edition 11 was taken in 1969, #8 by Hector Cuellar hunting with John Russell. I didn't find a date of '72 or '74 of the many I glanced over. A name and exact date would be helpful. If you can get that, I'll check the books again.
Cheers,
David

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."

Mike,

It will be in SCI listed by skull size.

Exactly - no way you can a leopard get that big. A lioness or a tigress would be big at that size. lots of old tricks like measuring around the curves, using 11 inch tapes and stretching the skin......One of the legendary Great White Hunters even saw a case of a cleverly patched pelt.

As Mark said, SCI's leopard and lion records are determined by skull size, not total length of the cat.

Have a look in Mellon's book Afican Hunter and I seem to remember a monster cat was taken in the Aberdares, however it would not be 9 foot.
