Cewe,
No one I know is against the 45-70, just against its use on the really dangerous game in the 4 cornors of the world, seems to be the issue...

It sure would not be my choice, and why would anyone want to prove such an issue is beyond me..Some have the need to pursue game with light calibers to prove their manhood or skill or whatever or so it seems, and thats fine with me, I have no objection to that, fun and games is the theme I suppose...

Personally, I want enough gun to feel comfortable with and not feel undergunned at the moment of truth, haveing been there it has occured to me that there is no such gun, they simply don't make a 1000 Nitro Express!

Just my take on the subject and I make no claim to correctness on the subject..I do believe that if the gun is legal by law then it is usable.

I just asked a simple question!

And I thank you for the answers and agree that the 45-70 isnt a DG caliber...its time and place are somewhere else!
