SBT,

Tanzania is a damn big country, and I do not know a tenth of it, but I have been paying attention to the area down on the Mozambique border. ... can't remember the operations name that hunts there at the moment. Nor do I know anything about them, but they take big Elephant and claim to be able to do it on a regular basis.

Luke Samaras is an excellent Elephant hunter, he absolutely loves it. He has 4 Selous concessions. Lion success in tose areas is very good as well (80-85% if you are not picky)

Thanks for the fishing trip this weekend. You and your wife were the nicent people I met during my visit to that area ... probably because the rest were all tourist! But do not let that take away from the compliment.

I meant it when I said you and your wife have a free hog hunt at the ranch if you ever make it down to Texas. Now it is in writing, and in public!

Thanks again. It was a very enjoyable day.

Thanks Wendell. Your welcome in my home or camp anytime. If the Houston or Dallas Safari Club Conventions are during hog season, maybe I'll be able to take you up on your generous offer.

Your best elephant areas in Tanzania are of course in Southern Selous or further South of the Selous down in Lukwika and Tunduru. Once you get down to the Luwegu River and along there and South of that is great elephant hunting. Lukwika belongs to Miombo Safaris, Tunduru area has several people claiming some areas there and do not know who actiually has the legal lease down there. Luke Samaras and Pasanisi also have produced good elephant in the past as well. I can also personally say that the LU5 block has excellent elephants there as I have guided there quite a bit and have taken some pretty decent elephant there. If you like long ivory then it is great. Miombo has also taken several elephants in the 60-80 pound range in Lukwika and would say that it is a great area to hunt if you are willing to hunt hard and concentrate on elephnat hunting.

Miombo ... that is who I was thinking of that hunts on the Moz border.

SBT, hog season is year round, no limit, no rules, .22 shorts, 45/70 fully auto .50 cal they are all just as fun and just as legal as a stick of dynamite.

Now is a bad time. Too green, too hot, no fun. But, January and Feb are great. not much food, no leaves, they will come to bait easily then. We can work it in before or after the DSC convention if you like.

John,

I'm thinking (if we ever get rich) that we'll have to book with a company that has a Masailand concession as well as a Selous or southern elephant concession. You can begin in Masailand for lion while I'll hunt the other for elephant. After hunting elephant, I could charter up to Masailand to meet you and finish my safari adding lion etc.

I think Luke Samaras, Adam Clement, Miombo or Zukas can do all of the above. We just have to wait for a deal to fall into our laps in 2006.

30ott6, The concessions down South are not the greatest for lion and would primarily be an elephant hunt. You might get lucky with a lion, but not a place to go if you really want a lion. You would be there to hunt for big elephant and you might also get lucky with sable, kudu and leopard, but you would want to go mainly for elephant.

The areas that are actually in the Selous would be good for both elephant and lion.

SBT, I do not know what kind of deal you are looking for, but if you can go this year, have a great deal for you to consider for our LU5 block in the Selous on the Luwegu River for elephant, lion, leopard, buff etc etc... This can be either a 1x1 or 2x1 safari as I had a client that had to cancel his hunt for October. If you are interested, then e-mail me and will give you the details for you to ponder, but can assure you of a great hunt for a great price.
