Ladies and Gentlemen,

Received the new Cabelas Inventory Clearance catalog. Looks like there may be few good buys on safari-style shirts.

Shirt 1

Shirt 2

Shirt 3

Regards,

Terry

I like to buy new clothes but I found that if you search your local Goodwill or other second hand stores, you can find some great buys. I have outfitted my first safari (four shirts and four pants) for about $20-25.00. Not that I am cheap but I am very frugal!

Nice shirts T.
I still have a shirt I hunted in in '96 from Cabelas. Too bad they don't make that shirt any more.

My favorite now are the shirts from Long Grass Outfitters
Lots of styles and different weights of material to choose from.

A good product and the folks are the best to deal with.

Just my opine.

Huh! You won't find safari clothing here in the L.A. basin in any Goodwill store. Don't nobody hardly go to Africa in my neighborhood but me! All the shirts shown are certainly decent but I'm waiting for the Serengeti line to go on sale. And I am cheap 'n' proud of it!

Rusty,

I have two of Long Grass Outfitters' shirts. They are excellent quality. Planning on testing them in the Zambezi Valley this season.

But you know me, always alerting our members to sale items. After all, I am the self-proclaimed Safari Guru of haute couture. Cool A veritable Versace of the sporting set. An Armani for the armed and adventurous. Big Grin Big Grin

I like the Beretta shirt as well. Rusty, have you ever had your rifle butt get caught on the way up with a right-hand pocket? I find it annoying and probably wouldn't go for the Long Grass shirts unless they've got a version with just the left side pocket (I'm right-handed).

Wink,
I've never had a problem with hitting my shirt pocket on any shirt I've hunted in.

It is always nice to flash the .500 Jeffery cartridges in pockets like that Wink.
I doubt that they would fit Frowner
But the pockets does make the statement " I am a hart breaker and life taker "

Cheers,

André

Hey Lucky1. I am glad I found someone else who bargain hunts at Goodwill. My wife and I outfitted ourselves with decent stuff for a song there. Most of the shirts and slacks were Dockers or similar quality for a few bucks apiece. Last year, I bought several wool sweaters that I use for PA deer season for $3 each. What the heck. I would rather spend the money on a safari or on another hunting trip that to buy new clothes.

Rusty - Thank you! thumb

Terry - Let me know how the product testing goes! I'm always looking for good input to improve our product design.

Wink - I am currently working on a shirt with just one pocket. I'll let you know when it's done.

Based on input from Mims, I have added a tropical weight shirt with long sleeves. I call it my Mims Reed shirt!! If you wear that shirt, you are younger, have more money & shoot straighter - guaranteed. If you don't believe it, just ask the man it's named for. You fellas may not have noticed, but Mims has one or two opinions. I appreciate all of them

Mims - had a great time in Dallas & Houston! Good to see you again! beer

Melody (TexasZebra) do you represent Long Grass Outfitters?? Or did I miss something here??

If yes, how about a 5.8 oz shirt with long sleeves in Sage?? That colour is a bit under-represented in your collection.

Patrkhntr,
Glad to hear I'm not alone. One of my shirts was a Woolrich Safari shirt. All of the pants were safari-style cargo. Paid $2 each! This way I won't feel bad if they get ripped or if I want to leave them behind!

LONG GRASS OUTFITTERS!!! I can't say enough good things about Melody. She actually took my complaints about a lack of petite women's safari clothing - real not for show! - so seriously that we did measurements and everything. After wearing them here and in Africa, I have to say they are excellent and have a great selection. Also just wonderful to work with and visit with. If I can just get her on some women's pants we'll be doing fine.

Thanks Melody from a Loyal Customer!

I would have to vote for Long Grass just cause it is good stuff from good Texas folks!
I am going to test out all the new stuff come Aug/Sept in Namibia and South Africa. I am sure it will pass with flying colors just as my other Long Grass shirts have.
How can one resist the female charm and salemanship of Melody while Jerry just smiles and counts the money!
It was fun times in Houston at the bar.
See you in Reno!
