I will ask the AR members for advice.

I bought 2 plains game hunts at SCI with the primary goal of taking my Mom for a Africa vacation. Mom is 69 and is great shape.

One hunt is a 7 day hunt with Mokore, another is a 7 day hunt with Tholo.

If I can find boarding, satisfactory to her standards, for my (mainly her) German Shepherd my mom probably will come.

She knows Jason Bridger well as she has met him in Orlando.

I am thinking 2 weeks - with one week on the cape and another either at Tholo or Mokore.

I think Mokore will give her a better Africa experience. I don't want to do Cape Town, Botswana Delta and Tholo.

I want to limit travel to two points - Capetown and where ever we go on Safari.

Anyone have any thoughts ?

I also want to shoot a bush pig at Mokore.

Both are excellent choices. But, for mom, perhaps South Africa has more tourist things to do and see.
Cal
PS. You're a good son.

Probably easier to get to Tholo. Jason is a known quantity.

Take her there and I will take the Mokore trip off your hands. jumping

I will do the cape with Mom just cause I think the cape is one of the most beautiful place I have been.

But I want her to see the save or tholo. Country were I hunt instead of Krueger.

Mike,
Personally..I think I would take her to Mokore for a couple of reasons.
1) the travel distance to "hop" to either place is nominal
2) I think going to Mokore vs Tholo would offer her the chance to see more "wild Africa" and variety of both flora and fauna

Think about her seeing Elephant in the wild etc and Lion and maybe Leopard or Rhino etc

Many other things are equal....quality camps, quality food, people, etc

I have heard the duckworth's run an excellent operation and their camp is the second after sango in the save.

Tholo is awesome too.

So I decided best to give her the choice - now I just need to focus on a place to board the damn dog.

I agree Mokore would be ideal - between them at the lower end of the save and save safaris at the top end - she should be able to see elephants for sure and buffalo too.

Rhino is a good shot too.

The cats are more chance - we cant go to them.

Now I have to decide if we should drive or fly to the mokore.

I also would really like to do the cape - so if it is before or after the save.

I can them go to tholo later and start whacking eland with Jason and work on buying my small plot of land in Botswana.

Take your Mom to Mokore...that decision is a no-brainer for reasons already mentioned.

Why not ask her what she'd prefer? After all she's the one your doing it for.

She could not tell the difference between save bubye tholo or Zambia.

Her view of Africa is National Geographic and animal kingdom. Save is closer to that than tholo.

Save, hands down. Bots is great. Been there. Hunted with Jason, too. Great guy. But the Save will be a more engaging bush "experience", I believe.

Sorry we missed each other, Mike. Next year.

I think its a no brainer too.

If you taking her all the way to Africa. She needs a chance to experience the big 5 first hand.
Mokore all the way.

I have walked in the foot prints of the elephant, listened to lion roar and met the buffalo on his turf. I shall never be the same.

Exactly this. Bubye Valley Conservancy would have been a great choice as well.

Mike: I'd take her to Mokore, too. Last September off of the deck at camp, we saw lions in the river bed several times, buffalo in the same place, (four dugga boys pretty much hung out in the reeds below camp) saw a leopard in the daytime on a fresh impala kill, elephants and 5 rhino. Game everywhere, like an old Tarzan movie. Also, the drive from Harare was pretty nice, I'd only seen Zim from a Cessna.

Regardless of where you end up taking her, try to remember that this will almost certainly be the ONLY time she goes to Africa. Seeing the Cape and hopefully for her, Vic Falls, will be things she will likely remember more than where you took her on your hunt. You might want to include her more in the decision if it is truly about her. You'll enjoy the hunting at each, regardless of which place you take your mom.

Vic falls is a great idea. I am not hunting at either places - I won't be taking a rifle with me.

Now if I see bush pig all bets are off.

Mike,
Nigel lives in the Falls. Let me know if it becomes part of the plan and maybe y'all can get together or he can take you to the park.

Tholo. Went there with my wife and she loved it. We are sorting a big family trip there now.
Easily the safest for someone of her station in life.

Have not been to Mokore, but plan to go in the near future. Quality outfit from all I hear. However, it is in Zimbabwe.....

There are zero hassles in Botswana.

Fully agree with how great Botswana is and how great Tholo is.

Mom knows Jason pretty well.

I am trying to buy some land next to Jason in Botswana - hopefully can wrap that up this year and next year she can visit Tholo to check out the place.

+1

Plus the added benefit of being able to pull Leon Duplessis chain for a week.
