just an fyi that not may people know ...always looking to save a few dollars that you can use on trophy fees !!!

when hunting two or more people in Africa with the same outfitter you can ask to have your trophy shipments consolidated , that will cut in half your shipping costs.

the process entails that one person in the party is consigned the crate , the other hunters trophies will have to have a packing list detailing what belongs to whom in the crate , this means there will only be one shipping bill instead of two and only one clearing bill instead of two ...

of course this only works if you are using the same taxidermist ...

of course the person consigned the shipment is the primary who must have his details in order with the brokerage company in the US. ... if one person has a cites permit , he should be the primary , as long as there are packing lists and the trophies are well marked with trophy tags as provided by the taxiodermist you will be using ..if more than one person has a cites animal in the shipment as long as all details are on the packing lists there is no problem.

as many of you know i am working a leading taxidermist out of eagle , wisconsin now and its amazing how many of these "corners and expenses" we can cut when organising our trophies ...many outfitters dont tell you this as they get a cut from their shipping people and the dip and pack fees of course ...

hope that this saves you a few dollars.. we just had a group of seven guys save nearly eight grand between them by doing this.

Is this a legal change in the customs regulations?

I was told that due to US Regulations that you could not consolidate your trophies with another person. Can you tell me where this information comes from?

Subject: Service Requirements for Processing Consolidated Freight

Background: A recent memorandum distributed by the Office of Law Enforcement, Port of New York addressed the processing of consolidated freight. This bulletin clarifies that November 27, 2006 memorandum titled “Fee Schedule Change.â€

Guidance: Under U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) regulations, an import or export represents a transaction between two parties. The Service declaration (Form 3-177), and all accompanying documents, including any required permits may show only one importer and one exporter.

In some situations, wildlife shipments may be consolidated for transport under one waybill. Such consolidated freight may constitute one shipment or multiple shipments for Service declaration purposes. We treat consolidated freight as a single Service shipment only when the declaration, invoice, permits, and other required paperwork identify a single entity as an importer and a single entity as an exporter. The invoice must clearly reflect that the importer or exporter is the only consignee or consignor. The importer or exporter, as appropriate, must be the import/export license holder and designated port exemption permit holder and pay any required user fees when such a license or permit is required. In addition, the importer or exporter is responsible for any violations and potential fines or penalties.

Consolidated freight that constitutes multiple importers and/or exporters is not treated as a single Service shipment even if the consolidation is under one waybill. We require a declaration for each shipment, and each declaration must identify one specific importer and one specific exporter.

We did this on our recent hunt to RSA, but I live in Canada, so I assume the rules are different. From what I've read here at AR I didn't think this was allowed for you guys as well?

A few weeks ago I asked Mat Mayers at Fauna & Flora if combining trophies into one shipment is possible, and his reply was

"No problem in combining shipments, getting them to do it is another thing. But separate docs per hunter and shipped under one airbill is the way to go."

I have three years worth of trophys in Zim and just waiting for a lion skin to be fixed up befour this lot get sent my way.

hutty , as long as it is with the same outfitter and one person is on the waybill , not the whole party , it is permitted by fish and game ....

we advise people of this and recieve consolidated shipments on almost a weekly basis ...the key is same outfitter, one importer ..

there has not been a change in regulations , just a grey area that i guess nobody has researched ...

Our trophies were combined and are enroute to the US. As mentioned, it's the African side that has to be convinced it's OK. You can combine a large group of trophies as long as EACH hunter has his/her own packing list and documents. I had to wait 5 months for a CITES permit so I held up the show for a month.
