BaylorA little help please, need advice
I have a friend who is trying to decide on where and what he should hunt on his first safari. I have been to South Africa one time and had a great hunt, my only regret was not taking a buff since it may be the only time I ever go. I am advising him to hunt zimbabwe and take a buff. My reasoning, better overall experience i.e. large free ranging concessions, cost, and the regret he'll feel on just taking plains game. What do you think? What would you do?

Michael RobinsonI would (and did, the first time) go for buff.
You never know. The next bus might hit you.

L. David KeithIf he definately wants a Buff, Zimbabwe would be the place to consider, as their trophy fee's are much less than other countries. If money isn't a concern, he has a number of good choices but may want to hunt White Rhino (or dart one) in RSA or Elephant, Lion or Leopard. A number of factors would dictate where I would recommend he go. If he knows about what he would like to hunt, how many days, price range, meds/shots versus no meds/shots, package hunt or a customized hunt, have him email me and I'll give him a call. Hope you get to go back to Africa. I know you miss it

Good hunting, David

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

loud-n-boomerIf he wants Buffalo and plains game, another option is a 7 to 10-day plains game hunt in South Africa or Namibia combined with a 7-day Buffalo hunt in Tanzania. The air fare is is only a few hundred dollars more, the plains game hunt would be a lot less expensuve, and he gets the pleasure of two very different hunting experiences on one trip.
