When an outfitter says a 14 day safari for cape buffalo which costs say X amount. And the trophy price of a buffalo is 3k does it meant You get to hunt more than one as long as you pay the trophy price or The X amount mention is just for 1 buffalo .In that case why don’t they just mention the total package price with the trophy cost included?

It depends on his quota of animals and how many he has available or is willing to make available to you. Some do all in on the price and some don't. Sometimes the person shoots more than the buffalo, so they just give you a price of the hunt and you add on whatever you want to shoot from the trophy list. In some areas like a 21 day in Tanzania it would be imposible to give you an all in price as there are soo many animals and who knows what you'll shoot!

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

You need to make sure what is included in the package. A buffalo may or may not be included. And of course you can always shoot other animals not in the package for the listed trophy fees.

Contact your outfitter and give him your wish list of animals you want to take. Include numbers also, like 2 Impala or 2 buffalo. Some outfitters will give you 1 buffalo at one price but the second could cost you much more than the first. Have them explain your every question! And don't hesitate to ask whatever you are unsure about.

No I am not looking to go on a safari anytime soon. I thought I was better of clearing my doubts here than get in touch with the outfitter and pretend to be a prospective client which I am not at the moment.

Ask all the right questions of the outfitters. Good outfitters dont mind answering genuine questions of honest future prospective clients... after all we all rely on clients for the future.
