Dang. Sorry to hear that and certainly the trip is not the same.

I had a buddy once that had some stomach issues. As he was young and big and very strong everybody said oh just go on and things will be ok. He was going overseas but had a couple of days in Houston when they had to call an ambulance to the office. Later that day he had emergency appendix surgery and was hospitalized a while and was off a long while as he was in bad shape. I saw him the first time in many years not long ago and we said that was a lucky day for him as to could have been much worse.

Y'all will get another go to Africa and it will be super.

Hope your son has a speedy recovery. I know exactly how you feel. 2 years ago my son and I booked a buffalo hunt in Bubye with Andy Hunter. Two ranch foreman on his Baja farm were in a serious auto accident a week before our safari. He had to cancel to mind the store. We were both so disappointed. I made the trip and shot his quota. Every day I missed his presence in the bush. We are trying to plan another safari for his 40th. Hope you are able to do the same.

Not a doctor but have learned through personal experience that the mind is a very strong thing. When circumstances are stressful the mind can shut you down. Stomach seems to be one of the escape mechanisms. Identify the source of the stress, alleviate it, and the symptoms disappear.

Just got back last night. Hunt was great but certainly missed my boy being there. Hunt report to follow soon.

He saw a specialist last week and was diagnosed with eosinophilic esophagitis. Supposedly a rare auto immune issue that's not curable but easily controllable. So at least we know what it is now and it's treatable so he can start feeling well again.

Thanks for all the concern and comments of support.

Glad he’ll be back on track. The planning has apparently already begun...excellent. And welcome back, look forward to the report.

Prayers sent Todd!

Can’t imagine how you must have had mixed feelings on your trip.

The most precious thing in the world to me...is my boy.

Keep us posted and I will keep y’all in our prayers...may God bless.

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.
