I just starting the process of getting my gun over to SA for the upcoming hunt we are leaving for on June 30th. I am going to be using Air 2000 to have the piece of mind to get thru JoBurg with out all the scammers trying to pull the wool over my eyes.. Now, the question being, I recently got in contact with Air 2000 and they replyed back to me saying that I needed to fill out form A, B, and C, then along with forms D,E, And F.. then I need to get Forms J through P notorized for the purpose of blah, blah, blah, bnlah... when I went to SA in '00 and '01, I did not take a gun with me. I didn't realize it was this big of a pain. Actually, the only times I took a gun out of the country was to New Zealand, and to Canada. And I damned sure don't remember it being this big of a pain in the ass. Can someone please come onto here and explain this process in good 'ol english?? What forms I need and what needs to be done to get the guns thru in a safe and timely manner with no hiccups in the way..
It seems to me if I'm gonna be paying these folks at Air 2000 a couple of hundred bucks, they should being doing this crap for me!! I should just be sending them the make, model and serial # of my rifle and shotgun I'm taking and they do all of this BS.... Thanks in advance...

Anne at Air2000 sent you all the forms you need, just fill them out it's not rocket science. I had 20 hunters fill them out this year and I have had all but 2 returned to me so far. Not a single hunter had a problem with the air 2000 instructions, nor did they have a problem with the forms.

I'm not sure what your missing but something must be if you cannot figure this out. There is nothing more complex about this then going to Canada, they still ask all the same stuff with the exception you have to provide your arrival flight and departure dates in RSA and the Canada permit is dated for a whole year.

I have the filled out forms for 18 hunters on my desk right now, what exactly is it you need to know?

The first page is the hunters support form giving Air2000 your permission to do this for you. It's easy just answer the questions like name, address, phone, passport number, Gun model serial number amount of ammo, etc

The next page has the instructions to assit you with what is needed to fill out on the SAPS application

Section E1 through E25.4
Section G
Section I
Section J

Some of these sections have only a couple things to fill in like name or what kind of gun

If your missing this information you better Email Anne back and ask for it.

The easiest way to handle this is not to take your guns. Leave them home and use the PH's or Safari outfits guns. I plan to do that next time when I go to RSA. Leave the sentimentality at home and have fun shooting new guns.

I just sent my stuff off to Anne. It isn't that hard.

I filled the sections out per her instructions then FAXED them to Anne to make sure that all was filled out correctly. I'm overnighting in Jobug before continuing onto Zim, so Anne had some suggestions (like padding my departure time from Zim). I then made the changes and sent the bundle off to her. You do need to make copies of your passport's information page and 4457 and get them notorized and send them too.

Sent mine to Ann on Feb 1 and she e-mailed me on Feb 20, that she had them back and ready for my arrival.

Remember, forgivness is easier to get than permission.

If you have never done it it does seems intimidating. But Air 2000's instructions are very precise. Just follow along with the intructions and it goes pretty easy. You only need to fill out the blocks that they tell you to fill out. Personally, for me I don't know why anyonw would want to shoot the PH's guns. Part of the enjoyment is shooting my own guns with my handloads. It is not that hard yet to get a firearm to SA.
