Man’s remains found in 3 crocs Bindura Bureau June 2, 2009 NATIONAL Parks authorities, working with the Police Sub Aqua unit, yesterday recovered a man’s body parts in three crocodiles at a dam in Mt Darwin. The man, Tawanda Ndizano (30), was fishing using nets at Mutaku Dam, Chesa, in Mt Darwin, when the reptiles attacked him. Mashonaland Central provincial police spokesperson Inspector Nicisson Kasoso confirmed the incident saying a herdboy was the first to arrive at the scene of the tragedy after hearing screams coming from the direction of the dam. Insp Kasoso said Simbarashe Mashiri (18) was herding cattle near the dam when he heard Ndizano crying for help. Mashiri rushed to the scene only to discover three crocodiles savaging the man’s body. He rushed to alert three farmers who accompanied Mashiri to the dam. Upon arrival they found the crocodiles dragging the body towards the centre of the dam. The crocodiles left the body on a log and disappeared into the water. Mashiri and the farmers then went to make a report to police in Mt Darwin who attended the scene but could not locate the body. This prompted them to enlist the assistance of the Sub Aqua Unit and officials from the National Parks and Wildlife Management Authority. The officials managed to kill the three crocodiles and recovered the man’s body parts. Cases of crocodile attacks on people, especially fishermen, have become cause for concern and police have urged the public to be cautious.
