Having a full day in Joburg airport hotel on a stopover to Zim.
I like to shoot a couple of Springbuck close to Joburg. Is there anyone that caters for such a day tip ?
Many thanks in advance
P.

By the time you clear customs and get a gun permit on the way in and out, you will take up several hours . Might be tough .

Thanks for your reply Larry,
I arrive the day before and depart the day after next, so I have a totally FULL day there. Also I don't travel with guns these days.
I would really appreciate if somebody could give me some names.
Many thanks P.

You may want to talk to Pieter Kriel (hunt@huntinginafricasafaris.com). He can probably setup something and he has loaner rifles.

Why don't you contact one of the guest houses used by hunters?

I am sure they can arrange something for you.

I know there are farms very close there, which you can hunt on.

We have done it.

Given my experience, I would never use Pieter Kriel again. Avoid. In short: we booked and paid him for a hunt. Pieter set us up with a PH that he had not vetted, who was unethical, used an unsafe vehicle that also had broken down, lied to us, brought us to a farm that didn't have the desired animals. Then, Pieter told us that if his PH ever told us to book directly with him (which he had), to let Pieter know and Pieter would give us an additional cull animal to which Pieter did not.

Further, I never received my Trophy Warthog that I shot. He personally said he would look into it and somehow lost the tusks. I won't say more other than there are much better PHs and companies and also much worse ones too.

These two sound like twins!

Avoid at any cost!

Sign up for the meet and greet that Mark Young can get you and you'll clear customs in less than an hour.

when we went in 2019, it was 37 minutes from stepping off the jet, through customs, guns cleared, rechecked, and sitting at our new gate.

I am very sorry to here that. Our experience was hunting with Pieter as our PH and was very different. Do you mind me asking when this was?

I’ve stayed at African Sky , Afton Guest House, and City Lodge in the airport. I prefer City Lodge for convenience andAfrican Sky for ambiance.
