I have used my 9,3x74R double rifle as my medium bore plains game rifle on 2 Safaris to Zim. On my last trip I took a giraffe, cape buff and a cow elephant with it.
It has always performed perfectly.

This Oct I am scheduled to go back with my wife. She will use a 450/400 3 1/4" double for cow elephant, buff and giraffe and a 308 Blaser R 93 for plains game.

I will take my 450 No2 for bull elephant.

The QUANDRY is do I take my 9,3 back or do I take my Blaser Safari R 93 in 375 H&H???

My 9,3 has performed perfect, from Texas to Canada, Montana, Idaho and Zim.... But that is old news.

I feel I must take the Blaser... Then I can make a valid comparision.
After all I have never hunted Africa with Bolt Rifle Trash... Big Grin

I like the feel of the Safari Blaser 375.

I feel if I am going to be a Blaser advocate I should take one to Africa at least once.

700 Nitro was the one to draw First Blood with it, he took a pig at Camp Cooley, he is holding it in the group picture.

If I take it I will shoot Federal factory 300 gr Nosler Partitions, Federal factory Sledge Hammer Solids, and factory PMC 300 gr Barnes X bullets.

What do ya'll think???

I am all for mixing things up, so you've talked me into it...take the Blaser. You are right about being an advocate as well...cred's come with experience...tough to say its a great Africa rifle without the "been there done that" to back it up.

Cheers,
Canuck

Tony, my 375 with 71grs of RL 15 and 300gr. TSX was devastating and shot tight groups and the croc had no complaint..

Shot a buff last week with North Fork 300 softs. I performed perfect. Shot buff walking towards me and the bullet penetrated into the stomach. It reatined 285+ grains and looked picture perfect. I also loaded 71 gr RX15 for 2625 fps in my CZ. Accuracy is wonderful.

Gee what a horrible predicament to find ones self in. I feel terribly sorry for you. I think it is a moot point. Whatever you take... meat will be on the ground and hides will be in the salt. Good luck to you.

cheers

Tony,

If you want to continue as a credible Blaser advocate, I suggest you use only your Blaser on this upcoming hunt. For all game, elephant included. sofa

But bring your 450 No2 along as "backup"! Wink

I will have to carry the 450 No2 for bull elephant for sure, but I plan on shooting a cow elephant with the 375 Blaser and the 450/400 3 1/4".

That is one of the things I like about the Blaser Safari bbl is the iron sights, plus the scope mount comes on and off and returns to zero.

I also have a Zeiss Z point I am going to experiment with.

If I can get a good load with a 300 gr North Fork Soft I will take the 405 on my Sept elk hunt in Idaho.

Tony, if you take that Blaser with you, just do us one favor! Don't let anyone take video, or still shots of you holding it in Africa! If there is no evidence, then there will be no BLACK MAIL, or any basis for impeachment!
