Hey guys, I'm looking at a Buff/Sable hunt in Dande South. I've searched this forum and the internet extensively for recent information and reports, but not finding a lot.
Does anyone have any recent information about the area? Is it a good option for Buffalo and Sable?
Thanks for any insight you can provide.
Use enough gun... Shoot 'till it's dead, especially if it bites.
Thanks sir, beautiful animals. Yours was one of the few reports I found. If you don't mind, do you have any further thoughts? Did you think the Buffalo and Sable populations were strong? Were there any other species that were in abundance, or species that you thought would be there that were not as abundant?
The other primary species I'd be interested in would be Waterbuck, Warthog, and Grysbok.

Thanks David and thank you everyone. The sable measured 43" on one horn and 43 3/4" on the other. Buff were there and moved back and forth across the Angwa River into or from the Chewore and/or Dande North areas. We were onto buff every day that we hunted them. Sable were found in the hills south of camp and bordering the Doma area. We spotted three separate groups of sable during my time hunting them. Grysbok were available, although I did not hunt them. My hunting partner, Bwanna, killed a really old male Grysbok with no horns. We saw some Warthog and some Waterbuck, but as I was not hunting them, I didn't ask as to their abundance. There were Chobe Bushbuck along the Angwa and into the southern hills as well. Hope that helps.
The sable is a brute, and I know that the hunting of it was the real deal, in those hard foothills...Well done UEG, how I long to hunt like this again. Like Richie Schultz and his clients are doing for/with Charlton McCullum. Not the large herds and the wham bam for me, no siree. Give me the dagga boy tracking in the thick stuff along one of those jinxing tributaries of the Angwa any day....Ah, the Angwa river, so many fond memories....

David, it sounds like you have some experience in the area, are you willing to provide any more information? If you'd prefer to do so via PM that is a-ok with me.
BTW, I bought your book at the camp shop in Senuko last summer. I loved the stories and wish I had been able to read it prior to my hunt there, it would have given me a better perspective of the history of the area.

I hunted those same foothills a number of times, just a bit west of where UEG was, in Chewore south, across the Angwa. Although I have never personally hunted Dande south, it must be fairly similar. My brother hunted in Dande north for many years, and a number of PH friends have hunted both Dande north and south. In my experience and opinion, areas like Dande and Chewore provide the ultimate hunting experience. I don't what the hunting in Chewore is like now, but one thing I do know is that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a hunt in Dande with Charlton/McCullum safaris. And if I was the client booking, I would ask to be guided by Richard Schultz from a fly camp and hunt the hills for an old dagga boy, an old kudu and an old bushbuck.
Thanks for buying my book and I hope you have a fantastic hunt wherever you decide to go. If you haven't already, check out some of the Charlton/Mcullum hunt reports from Dande.
