I picked up my Trophies from my June 2004 21 day Zimbabwe Safari today.
EVERYTHING made it back. One of the horns from my kudu was broken about 8 inches from the tip.
This happened before they were packed as the broken piece was taped back together.
Minor taxidermy problem. Most important the IVORY made it with out a scratch.

Everything was packed in 3 crates. Total weight was 575.4 lbs.
total cost $2,630.66.

Broken down as follows:
Air Import Freight $2,366.50.
Airport Transfer $20.00
COD Fee $59.16
Customs Clerance- Formal Entry $150.00
Messinger service $10.00
CDC [Center of Disease Control, necessary for Civet Cat and Baboon Skull] $25.00
I do not think that is too bad considering some of the stories I have heard.
I used ABX Logistics at DFW airport, and will use them again.

Bottom line is MY IVORY IS HERE!!! thumb beer [actually Single Malt Scotch] Cool Big Grin

N E 450 No2,

I'm glad you got everything in good shape - always a worry until they arrive.

Could you please provide me the contact information for ABX Logistics. Coppersmith charged me almost $6000 for my trophy shipment from Tanzania to Dallas and I thought that was a tad much!!

Thanks

Great report, thank you. I also have 3 crates sitting at Taxidermy Enterprises in Bolawayu waiting on export permits. Similar cargo. I have been leaning toward using Cargo Services, I will call Jodi upon your reccomendation and get a quote. I hereby second the motion for PHOTO'S!!! How long did the shipping take, and to where in the US?

Gentlemen:
You cannot believe how relieved and happy I am that my trophies have arrived. While I am happy to have all of them, including the elephant and buffalo hides made into leather, it is the IVORY that captivates me. There is nothing like it.

Mike,
They are not capped yet. They are in their natural form. It is amazing to see the difference between the Ivory that was "Out of the Lip", and the part that was "in the Lip".
