At this time of the year, I'd like to remember the good men and women of the safari hunting industry and any AR members who left us this year. Please post pictures, any stories, or good memories you might have of them.

I'll start by mentioning a tracker friend of mine named "Briscoe." He died from the big disease with the little name in September. Briscoe guided me to one of my biggest bodied elands I've ever taken. I'm guessing Briscoe was HIV positive for about four years. That shows you what kind of a fighter he was. Most HIV infected Africans don't make it that long. May Briscoe rest in peace.

Not a member of AR or someone in the safari hunting business, but certainly an adventurer. Chris Lackey died this year by an ice fall while making the descent from Moose's Tooth, a peak near Mount McKinley. Chris was just 39 years old and left a wife and two small children. He and I would run the stairs at our office building to stay in shape. He was courteous enough to let me feel like I could keep up. He was a quiet, unassuming person and while he was killed doing what he loved, he left us too soon.
