Rhino Horn Inquiry!

Aaron NeilsonRhino Horn Inquiry!
Folks - Below is an email I just received from some clown claiming to be John Sullivan?? The email address he sent the message from, is listed below too. Anybody ever receive something like this, and does anyone know how to track down the origin of this message, from the email address?? I don't even know if this is a legit inquiry or what, but I'm REAL CERTAIN I don't know any local taxidermists in Ireland. And I'm certain, that's not where he received my email address either. My guess is its someone just trying to purchase rhino horn, likely not from Ireland, and not named John Sullivan! He copied someone else on the message, but the ID was blocked. And it may just be a hoax, I have no idea?
"Hi, this is john Sullivan here from Ireland, im having a grand theme opening of an African seen here in my hotel in Kerry, Ireland. The thing is I’m having grate trouble in locating a rhino head or horn in Ireland and a local taxidermy told me to email u on the off chance that u might be able to locate this item for me.
It would be very much appreciated if u could get back to me with good news within a week or 2 as the grand opening will be on 4/9/2010 and we really need this item."
Kind regards john

GeorgeSIt might have been a total scam or a sting by law enforcement.
Next time, suggest a replica horn.

Ya, thought that too! And like GeorgeS suggests, maybe a scam from law enforcement, who knows? Either way, I am fairly certain from my first reply, they got the message.

Hunting in Africa is an adventure. The number of variables involved preclude the possibility of a perfect hunt. Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt.
Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry
Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure.

I received the same email yesterday. I thought about suggesting a replica but then thought, to hell with it. I deleted the email without a reply. David

shakariThere's no end of dodgy bastards floating round looking for rhino hunts and/or dodgy rhino horn just now.... I'm glad to say one of 'em recently got banged up here

:
The Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT) is pleased to see that wildlife crimes such as rhino poaching are being taken seriously and addressed through appropriate sentencing by the South African courts. We are especially pleased to see that on Wednesday the 30th June 2010, Magistrate Prince Manyathi convicted and sentenced Mr. Xuan Hoang, a Vietnamese citizen, to ten years imprisonment, with no option of a fine at the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court. Xuan Hoang was arrested at O.R. Tambo International Airport on the 29th of March 2010, whilst in possession of seven rhino horns (16 kilograms) representing four poached rhino and worth approximately R900 000.00. The South African Revenue Service officers assisting the Organised Crime Unit (HAWKS) as well as the Environmental Management Inspectors (EMIs) of the Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (GDARD) during the investigation of the case, are of the opinion that the street value was probably closer to R2 million.
