Bought a CZ 550 in .375 yesterday and getting it re-barreled to .416 Rem. I have discovered that the magazine holds six .375's down and 1 up, and the same for the .416 Rem. I am so excited about having a .416 Rem that will hold 6 down and 1 up, I can hardly stand it. Yippee! Yippee! Yippee!

Of course the magazine is going to hold the same number of .416 Rem. as it holds .375 H&H--they are the same case! Hello?

Arts, Arts, Arts, Now don't be trying to rain on my parade. In fact it is not the same, as the larger diameter of the shoulder eats up magazine space. That is why the Lott will only hold five. So there!

Well, because the .375 H&H is so tapered, you may have a point. I would think (don't KNOW), but would think it would be very easy to open the magazine to hold as many Lotts as .375 H&H's. Obviously, the rim end is going to take the same space.

Six .416s down and one up the spout. That's a big plus for the Rem. over the Rigby, for sure. I can get six .458 Lott cartridges into the magazine of my CZ 550 actioned custom rifle. But the top round is so tight, it won't feed right. With five down, they all feed very well. With a custom, dished out floorplate, I'm sure the sixth would fit and feed too. I may have to get one.

Congrats Will. It is always nice to know there is a bonus involved when you start a new project. I hope you are photographing the transition for the before and after thread you will do when completed. Frank

Will, Mrlexma, Well now, how often if at all you need to fire more than one shot. I'd think the more you have in the magazine, the less you're motivated for a one-shot kill Three in the mag is the right number for me. Will, enjoy your .416 Rem.

I've needed 5 out of my 6 Lotts. 2 eles were down and could have got myself killed without the PH. There is no such thing as too much magazine capacity!

I'll define "need" liberally and say: Twice so far. Five in the vitals of a galloping, heading for the river, didn't want to fall down and die buffalo, and six in the vitals of an on land, galloping and didn't want to die hippo. Both of which would have eventually fallen down and died from the first shot. But "eventually" can get you killed. Will has already said it best, but I'll repeat it for emphasis: There is no such thing as too much magazine capacity.

My CZ 375 converted to 404 Jefferys holds 5 down and one up the Keyster, that is exciting, your right... Now we can load on Monday, shoot through saturday and go to church on Sunday with an empty gun, and can't shoot the preacher, lucky him!

My cz lott holds 5 in the mag and one up the spout, and my .375 cz the same....in fact the cz holds seven rounds but just wont quite feed the top one...imagine a tad of tweaking and I would have 7 in the mag and one up the spout for an 8 shot .375
