I have an interest in a Roan and Western Savanah Buffalo combo hunt.

Is there still hunting in Burkina Faso or is that a non starter right now?

From what I read, that has become an incredibly risky place.

I have a friend who went there shortly before the melt down. I vividly remember him sending me pics from BF promoting Al Queda.

I went the year before the rebels took over. It was nice....a Roan trophy fee was like $900. I took a Roan, Savanna Buff, Hartebeast, and perhaps another couple animals. The camp was nice...it was like a playground for the French elite. Now it's just another African country turned to sh*t.

While Burkina Faso is probably out you still might have options for that combo.

I believe some hunts are still happening in Benin, albeit, those concessions are just south of Burkina.

Cameroon would be a great option as there are multiple operators with concessions that hold that combo.

My two BF hunts had to have been the best and most inexpensive hunts ive done. Its too bad it wont be open for hunting any time soon. I read not to long ago that my PH got killed when Boko Haram moved in and wiped out the safari camps. Not sure if anyone has anymore info on this. His name was Idressa.

I took more American clients to BF than anyone else! I am in regular contact with the folks there, right now its a good place to go if you want to have a shoot out with some jihadists! Our camp was the first to be burnt down and after that all the other camps. Benin has also stopped all hunting, I was about to go last year and pulled the hunt at the last moment when then they killed a Frenchman who was in charge of security and anti poaching in the W park!

Its all very sad and who knows what will be left of the game when this is ever done with! It really was a jewel in the dust and a very unique safari experience.

I can offer the same species in Cameroon. I would go sooner than later if you are interested in any of the West African Savannah species.

Thanks for the update Arjun! I did not realize that the operators in Benin pulled out too.

It wouldn't surprise me that if you wait for BF (or Benin) to be able to safely hunt again the price there would be 5-6 times what it is now in Cameroon, and Cameroon would then probably also be more expensive than now.
