http://www.huntingreport.com/w...te.cfm?articleid=602 Liberia Reopens to Hunting (posted June 05, 2012) Liberia has reopened for hunting safaris thanks to the efforts of safari operator and PH Steve Kobrine. Hunting Report subscriber, Tom Hammond, just returned from Liberia and shared his experience there with us. "Steve is in a really good place," he says. "The wildlife is there, and hunters will get the various species he is offering." Those species are zebra duiker, Ogilvy duiker, bay duiker, water chevrotain, dwarf buffalo and possibly bongo, according to Hammond. Hunting Report subscribers know Kobrine as the man who reopened Ghana. We have four articles on Kobrine in our database dating back to 2008. Since 2008, numerous subscribers have successfully hunted the pygmy antelope species available there with Kobrine and submitted glowing reports about his operation and his ability to get things done in that country. Kobrine is the only safari operator with hunting rights in Ghana and, according to Hammond, now has sole rights to conduct safaris in Liberia. Liberia has had some problems in the past, as continuing Hunting Report subscribers know. Another operator had opened hunting there in 1999 and experienced a host of problems that led him to shut down operations. Kobrine has been quietly and carefully working to reopen the country for more than a year now, and, according to Hammond, has established some important in-country contacts. "Steve knows what he is doing," says Hammond. "He has been successful in other areas and will be in Liberia as well." The Hunting Report was able to contact Kobrine while he was still in the bush on his first safaris in Liberia. He promised to give us a full report on these hunts very soon. You can read more about this development, including Hammond's complete report, in the upcoming July issue of The Hunting Report. We should soon have photos from those safaris too and will share those with you as soon as we receive them. In the meantime, congratulations are in order for Steve Kobrine for cracking open another hunting destination! - Barbara Crown, Editor Kathi kathi@wildtravel.net 708-425-3552 "The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page."

When I arrived in Ghana there was another hunter in "camp", Mr Malcolm King from London. He was going home and then to return to Liberia to hunt with Steve for more of the little guys. Oh Sh*t another destination on the bucket list.
