Which African countries make an exception for the 9,3X62?

I'm given to understand the most African countries consider the .375 as the minimum for hunting dangerous game (buffalo, lion, hippo). However, I also understand that some countries make an "exception" for the 9,3X62. Can anyone tell what those countries are?

Thanks. Can't get my little 9,3X62 up to 5300 joules but that leaves the Rigby.

My advice? Don't worry about it. Just take it and hunt. I can't imagine being denied the opportunity hunt with a sufficient caliber. And the 9.3 is plenty sufficient. In the end it is up to the PH, and they tend to be a pretty practical lot.

It's more important to have an accurate load than a load of the proper joules.

Take it and hunt and don't worry about it. I'm having a 9.3 built at the moment. I'll take without a second thought.

Nobody asked me squat about my 9.3x62 in July, 2012 when I hunted Zim and Namibia. Take it and enjoy it. Mine has been twice and never any questions about it.

You can borrow money but you can not borrow time. Go hunting with your family.

The 9.3 x 62 while technically not a .375 is accepted in some countries, TZ being one of them and will grant permits for DG.

Have used the 9.3x62 in Africa on about a dozen trips and have never once been questioned about calibre for Game legality's, In fact I would go as far as to say there would be hardly a hand full of officials on the hole continent that would know the laws on this subject let alone care. These are no longer colonial days.

My 9.3 X 62 is going to Africa "again" this year for Cape Buffalo. Won't say which Country I am going to, in case the "authorities" Roll Eyes are logging on to AR. Actually I have already checked/know the 9.3 is aboveboard where I am going.

My 550FS CZ shoots everything I feed it well under an inch @ 100 yards, so I have ramped it up a bit for this trip. Barnes TSX and Barnes Solids in 286gr, should be just right. Dave take your 9.3 and don't look back.

I hear the replies of practical considerations and they are no dobt spot on. I have never heard of anyone being questioned about caliber choice by anyone other than the PH who needed to see the job done.

The question was which countries accpeted the 9.3mm as DG legal.Few answers so far, so I will give it a go.

I understand Zim is okay with 9.3x62, but you would need to check with your PH / outfiter. RSA as far as I know it is DG legal in some provinces, but not all of them. Again, check with the guys who should know these things.

Dave, Tony B. (NE450No2 ) took an elephant with a brain shot and a bunch of plains game with his Chapuis 9.3X74R double rifle in Zimbabwe with no problem at all. The 9.3X62 is just a little more powerful than the 9.3X74R. As long as you put a good bullet in the vitals and follow up on your own shots quickly you will be fine. You still have the PH for a back-up if needed.

Good luck and good hunting! tu2
