shouldermanSuggestions for Buffalo hunt with family
This is my first post. Fellow AR member Joe Democko are looking to book cape buffalo hunt. We are leaning towards Zimbabwe. But are not stuck on it. Are not interested in hunting buffalo behind a fence. Our families want to come. They went to Namibia when we hunted plains game in 2007. The kids will range from 4 to 15. We are looking for an outfitter that will be able to offer our families good activities and excursions while we are in the bush. Also would like to try to avoid charter flights if possible. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Greg Bauer

PeglegYour options will be somewhat limited with your family. I suggest that you contact someone like Mark Young (here on the board) and lay out what you want and let Mark give you some options. Good luck!

infinitoSir,
Why do you not come and have a chat with me at the AFrican Sporting Exposition in Charlotte the weekend of the 27'th of Jan?
IT is in the convention centre downtown I believe!
Looking forward to seeing you there!

Phillip SmytheHi Shoulderman,
I agree with Pegleg, your options are limited. I would suggest something on Lake Kariba (Zimbabwe), where you can have a bit of fishing (talapia, tiger fish etc) and the likes whilst you do some hunting. Let me know if I can help at all. My number whislt in the States is 214-790-5805

Jack D BoldGreg,
Our family did just such a safari a few years ago. Criteria was family friendly, no charters, good numbers of buff, and PG for our viewing pleasure.
We chose Matetsi, right outside Victoria Falls. The falls make a spectacular side trip for the family, plus it is serviced by an international airport.
If I recall, there are 4-5 safari areas operating in and around Matetsi. Please do your homework, see what's currently out there. I have heard great things about Matetsi #5.
Have a blast!

JudgeGThe area around Victoria Falls offers lots of stuff for a family. I took my daughter to Matetsi 3 which is only an hour out of town and I have a video of the buffalo hunt and the activities in which we participated. I'll be glad to send you a copy if you send me a p.m.

RichP470After researching different areas that were family friendly, where I could bring my wife and hunt with my son who will be 8.5 in 13, we chose Lemco/Bubye with Brent Hein. The accommodations are very comfortable camps, everyone will get to see tons of animals including the big 5. I am also bringing another couple for their first trip so we can see the falls, go to Hwange, etc. It is a hard trip to beat.
