Went to Reno and made a full week of it. Two days of SCI, two days of the American Custom Gun makers Guild show and the American Blade smiths Show. Too much fun.
We booked a 10 day hunt for Buffalo in Zambia with Wes Hixon. We met Peter Chapman and were very happy with what he had to offer. Other game on license are hippo, crocodile, waterbuck, bush buck, kudu, wart hog, eland. We also bought Peter's video. We are also organizing a lion/leopard hunt for 2006.
Lots of fun coming up.

My wife, Susan, won a beautiful stock blank from Preslick's. Now I get to make her another rifle.
I won three silent auctions at the Guild banquet. Two or three more neat rifles to build.

I still have not been able to locate a 450-400 3" and did not see one At SCI. I was real tempted to buy a Shul made double rifle in 9.3x74. The rifle only weighed 7.5 lbs with a 1
-4 Leupold scope. It pointed like a 20 gauge shotgun. I am just not sure if I want to spend money on a continental double. There was also a Lancaster 9.3x74 in very good condition but I am set on the .400's.

lb,

You and I posted the exact same subject title. In fact, when I read your's, I did a double take and thought the software had screwed up.

Congrats on your Zambian hunt. Wes Hixon is a real stand up guy and would not sell a "dud" hunt. He's a local boy (Georgia) and specializes in Zambia.

I also bought a hunt in Reno, but it's a little more mundane (Zimbabwe).

Good luck.

You will have a quality hunt with Peter, he's a good man, and you'll enjoy the Luangwa Valley I am sure. Kathi from the forum is doing Wes's flights to Zambia, so she'll be able to help out with the logistics. Buffalo, croc & hippo hunt + waterbuck and bushbuck is a nice bag. I don't think you will find any eland though. Numerous warthog but genetically not huge tuskers. I saw once 50"+ wide-V kudu. Lots and lots of buffalo and cheeky elephant cows too...

Did you pick a date yet? Feel free to email me if I can be of any assistance w/the prep. Regards, Bill

Contact George Caswell at champlinarms.com, if he doesn't have one right now he will probably be getting one. Great people.
