"Maybe Saeed should upgrade his Dakota to a customized CZ 550 Magnum .375/404 Jeffery Saeed." When Walter is along on an expedition, and you have only two rifles between you, a third rifle of same chambering makes good sense. It would not be idle slumming. Let Walter use the CZ.

That was from a man who has actually killed buffalo and plains game with the .375/404JS. But his smiley holding the US flag ... does this symbolize the coming to the Americas of the .375/404JS?

lol. Yes it does RIP. I couldn't find a another "salute" smiley (like the one you used) but figured the US Flag one was pretty appropriate for my support of your cause, Bro' RIP. A Canuck would not use such a smiley indiscriminately.

Hey some of the white part of the zebra rubbed off on that rifle..

surestrike, That is the original .375/404JS. It has the look of a McMillan stock that had a painted finish, not molded in color. Honest wear, memory spots, all over the stock. Like African Urban Camo now. Or as you say, Zebra-style camo. It works! Canuck might comment on that shiny, solid steel cylinder on the end of the barrel. A muzzle weight that replaced the former muzzle brake, BOSS-style? IIRC, that barrel has since been bobbed smooth to 23" length. Did Saeed survive the ski trip? Or has Walter finished him off?

Painting the walls of a prison pink calms the inmates. Does a pink T-shirt calm the trigger finger of a benchrest champion? http://www.6mmbr.com/gunsmiths.html Dwight Scott 9244 South Clinton Eaton Rapids, MI 48827 Phone: (517) 663-1750 (Has built scores of match-winning 6PPCs) I will contact this legendary gunsmith if he is still alive and will accept my call, and see if he has been given permission by Saeed to direct me to the reamer specs. He and Saeed designed it. There is really no need for me to design the ".375/404 Jeffery RIPoff," for if I did, it would not be the same, though I would gladly share the specs:

Dwight was kind enough to talk to me today. I will call him back in a week and see if he has found the reamer specs buried in a pile of decades of accumulation of reamer drawings. I see that Saeed has been active in the Political Forum ...

RIP, there was a muzzle brake on it and Saeed installed a sleeve over top of it, rather than cut it off.

Say Hi to Dwight for me! I got to hang out with him some in 2006 and had a great time. He even walked my butt off in the heat one day and enjoyed it immensely! Lol.

Dwight doesn't have anything on the .375/404 Jeffery Saeed. No reamer drawing to be found. Dan Green was the original reamer maker, though he is no longer dba Forgreens Tool Manufacturing, Inc., out of Robert Lee, Texas. However, there is an internet rumor that he may now be at JGS Precision Tool Manufacturing, LLC of Coos Bay, Oregon. Saeed has that original reamer, and no reamer drawing. I could use Saeed's measurements, of a resized case from a 2004 post, as a guide for reamer specs ... From 2004, Saeed said: ************************************************************************************************************************************************ Here are some details of our 375/404, taken from a fired, resized case. Length = 2.820" Neck = 0.375" Body length = 2.320" Diameter at base = 0.542" Diameter below the shoulder = 0.530"

Originally posted by Saeed: Gentlemen, I do not have the drawings for this cartridge, they are with my friend Dwight in the US. I will ask him and let you know the exact measurements. ************************************************************************************************************************************************ ... Or I could redesign the reamer with a little more case taper, back to the 404 Jeffery case body taper, which is pretty minimal for an antique, and a 20-degree shoulder hemi-angle (40-degree junction cone angle), same as the .338 Lapua Magnum, a slick feeder. This would be called the ".375/404 Jeffery Saeed Improved." .375/404 JSI The masses could have something better than what Saeed has. Yes, this is a hybridization of the .375/404 Jeffery Saeed with the .375/.338 Lapua Magnum. There is nothing possible after this in the quest for perfection of hunting rifle cartridge. No way to improve on the .375/404 JSI. A reamer source and reloading die source will be open to the gun trade, by my permission. Minimum reamer specs and max brass specs will be available to all. I will even allow CIP and SAAMI to have them if they wish. Which of the Dave's is best for the chamber reamer? Dave Kiff or Dave Manson? Which reloading die manufacturer? Hornady or Redding? The reamer, dies, and brass shall be perfected, soon, and it is going to take less time than the 10 years I have been puzzling over the exact specs of Saeed's cartridge. Many thanks to Saeed for pointing the way to perfection. Soon he too can own it. Edit 1/8/12 at 10 PM CST USA: Poll concluded with 69% YES, 31% NO. I have come to my senses, and will use the 2004 measurements by Saeed himself as brass maximums. No "unimprovement" of the .375/404 Jeffery Saeed shall be attempted. It is decided. RIP is now "on the case."

Been away for a few days. Bummer that Dwight does not have the reamer drawing. Who made Saeed's reloading dies? Looking forward to future updates.
