I just read a great article on Africa and on hunting Africa in an interview that was conducted with Tony Sanchez-Arino in the latest Sports Afield that arrived today. I believe that it would certainly behoove most AR members to get and read the article/interview. The article puts many, many discussions had here on AR into perspective, answers many questions, and provides some sage wisdom from someone who really knows Africa.

I liked his comment on elephant hunting: "What I say to the sporting hunter is this: Don't just look at the weight of the ivory. Hunt elephant for the pleasure of the hunt. Hunt elephant in the proper way, like a gentleman. Hunt him in his terrain on foot. When you hunt an elephant like this, a few pounds more or less of ivory means nothing, because there is so much satisfaction in the hunt that it will compensate for less ivory." Mike

I thoroughly enjoyed that article. Interesting that he had high praise for the 416 rigby for DG even though he uses a 500 something now. I always like to know what the true experts think. TerryR
