I won't embarrass the company concerned by naming them, but I've just had an e-mail from a couple of guys calling themselves agents who directed me to a real micky mouse home made website that has absolutely no African content whatsoever and then telling me they'd represent my company for 15% of everything they sold...... not just daily rates, but 15% of everything AND gave them a free trip. They would however be happy to pay for their own food.

I had to check the date to see if it was April 1st. As it isn't, I guess I'm just REALLY lucky to be selected huh! rotflmo

Steve - I guess they must be from SCI, since they wanted a "hunt donation"?? Probably for one of the "uppity up's to go on?? That's really funny.

I used to hold a varmint hunitng lease on over 200,000 acres in North Texas. We hunted hogs and bobcats and coyotes and such no big deal.

I've had a couple of these "video" producers approach me and basically demand an all expense paid hunt. I would be allowed a copy of the video of course at the conclusion of course.

Gun writers, video producers and booking agents oh my!

what is $ci?. ooooh, i get it- SCI!!! GIVE IT A REST. NOBODY KIDNAPS THE OUTFITTERS, DRAGS THEM TO RENO, FORCES THEM TO RENT A BOOTH, AND DONATE A HUNT. if they didn't think it pencilled out-cost versus booking revenue- they wouldn't be there. for God's sake, don't start another one of your SCI rants. your feelings about this issue are pretty well known by now and repetition gets boring.

I would rather we all feel free to post our opinions. I am sure that someone has read this thread that has not read one of Steve's anti SCI "rants" before. Let's keep it fair and balanced.

Hunting in Africa is an adventure. The number of variables involved preclude the possibility of a perfect hunt. Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt.

Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry
Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure.

SCI brought all this mess on themselves, Steve did not.

THEY are the one who claim of all the great things they do for African hunting.

And when we asked what, we are lead on the merry go round.

Back to the subject at hand.

We have had a number of those Steves spoke about on this forum.

They go on their first hunt, and come back as experts.

They then try to get someone to book through them, and do the same thing SCI does - blackmail the PH to let them have a free hunt!

One individual went as far as setting up his very own website. He even went hunting during the close season!?

Yep, we do have some clowns in the hunting industry.

May be they are taking their clues from what SCI does clap

I guess the SCI auctioning the hunt to raise money for their obviously nefarious activities versus the booking agent demanding a free hunt for himself is lost on you.

Hate blinds.

Although I understand you guys are making your own malt whisky called Sullivan's Cove now, so maybe we could give that a try!
