Another balanced article from the left wing socialist news channel that is the BBC:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-33674087 Illegal Lion Hunt

The lion was "beheaded", I didn't realise that there was an Islamic caliphate in Zimbabwe.

"Beheaded" sounds better than "decapitated" and puts hunters in the same league as the ISS. Such terminology works wonders psychologically on the masses.

Words that are carefully picked and used like this are swords against us hunters. They know what they're doing when they write their articles.

everyone but another Brit knows that another Brit is full of shit most of the time anyway. I'm Canadian and of British ancestry and I know lots of them. They live in a world all their own.
The fact it is the BBC they are keeping it in house for the most part. Disregard, it is just drivel.

I've heard that the Game Department has declared the hunt to be illegal, that two individual's are being prosecuted and that they are looking for the Spanish hunter.

Clearly the alleged wounding with a bow is not pretty, nor is shooting a pride male, if that in fact is true and if it was known. But if a lone mature male lion is out and about on private land ...

What really happened here? Anyone have any details?

It was shot in a legal hunting area BUT from what I have heard there was no lion quota in that area.

I don't want to know what someone might have heard, although that is exactly what I asked for.

Give me some facts.

1. ZPHGA has suspended the PH indefinitively for unethical conduct.

2. The actions have created a PR nightmare.

How can that lion be illegally killed?

Did the hunter have a license to hunt it??
By the looks of things, he did.

So how can it be illegally hunted when it was killed outside the park??

Saeed,
Youy will find that the lion license they had was probably for a different concession as the one where Cecil was shot had no lion quota on it.

A trick that happens often all over Africa unfortunately.

Bloody tragedy if the news article is true and what an arsehole to plead ignorance to the whole hunt setup, 40 hours to track and finish off, should be bloody shot himself if that part is true.

Thank you Mitch, I did not see that.

Another good reason to make sure one hunts with a reputable PH or company!

I'm just saddened that news from Big Bob land is given to be accurate. We may find that the entire hunt was above board but it will be backpage by then.

Dodgy PH and dodgy client by the sounds of it Roll Eyes

Can I ask how much does a "normal" lion hunt go for in Zim?

The story was on the main UK TV news channels last night and it's front page on all our national newspapers today.
As Mike Jines said, it's a PR nightmare.

If it was illegally killed, they should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Good Evening All.

I am posting this on all the relevant links on this subject, as I believe we have been able to gather information and fact, hopefully devoid of emotion circulating at present, and which I think will answer many of the questions being posed.
