If I remember correctly Ron said that he went down on one knee the moment the lion broke cover. His first shot hit the lion on the side of the mouth.

He also said that the lion was hit by some of the other PH's with no effect on the charge.

Please correct me if I am wrong.
A charging lion can cover a 100 meters in less than 6 seconds. Imagine the speed if you have only 30 meters to stop him.

KINO

The 450 Watts is just basically the 458 Lott so it is not much of an odd ball and actually it has been around a very long time. Also if you expect that every good PH has a great rifle or even a completely functional rifle you will be quite disappointed. Non functional safetys, broken stocks patched with duct tape and ammo belts filled with several kinds of ammo are probably as common as a nice double. These are not bad PH's but some just can't afford the best equipment.

CanadianLefty,if you don't believe me then go ask Marc who owns the Rousseau noire shooting range who is the best stand up rifle shooter he has seen. Then go to Chicoine at Pionnier and ask who are his most frequented rifle shooters over the past 10 yrs.If you hear a common name starting with a G then that's me.I also jog 4 marathons a week to stay in shape. So when I say I am a SHOOTING BALLERINA I ain't kidding!

I've seen some very ignorant statements on this forum and that has to rate right up there at the top.

Yes...precisely. This is absolutely the case with me.....that is unless I'm shooting a side/side or over/under.

When I'm shooting a double the gun don't come down until my eye has confirmed the hit. Further the second shot is usually on the way within nanoseconds of confirming the need.
Is this the norm as well?

If anything this thread is confirming the value of double rifles.

So, has anyone managed to find a link to this video clip? Would love to see it as I am sure everyone else here would.
