Just finished watching the Peterson's Hunting TV show that was filmed on this place. 70,000 acres and a wide variety of game, looks awfully interesting to me! Has anyone here been there to hunt or know anything about the place?

John,

I have not hunted Eden, but I have friends in Namibia who know Jamy Traut well and say he is a really good bloke.

The web site is www.eden-wildlife.com

Cheers,

Blair.

John- I hunted there twice prior to the current situation. Allan Cilliers, after leaving Parks as head warden of Etosha, made Eden what it is today. The RSA owner had it in cattle and Allan was responsible for the developement and restocking of the game. As populations came up to carrying capacity, Allan arranged with the owner and the Namibian game department to offer limited archery hunting. I'm not sure of the exact sequence that followed, but it involved the owner's son. The end result was that Allan purchased an adjacent acerage, Sandvelt, and has done another magnificent job of restocking and restoration. Allan's relationship with Eden ended at this time. Some time after the owner's son became involved with Eden, they undertook large scale game capture and started the current rifle hunting program. As great as the reports are today, it was simply unbelievable prior to the change in mgmt. It is my understanding that Sandvelt is an archery only venue run by Allan's son Wayne. Allan is now hunting up in the Caprivi.

Allan has 2 locations I believe...Bwabwata National Park and Sandveld Game Ranch. He sounds like an interesting guy with some nice hunting available.

John,

I don't represent Eden but I understand they put on a great safari and are a cut above most of the operations in Namibia. I think a lot of hunters do not realize that paying a litte more really does make for a higher quality experience.

I hunted there twice, 2000 and 2001, with Gauss Hunting when they had part of it under contract. There was some change in ownership or management around then and I don't think Gauss hunted there after 2002.

Nice property with a lot of quality game then. Rather flat and brushy with some large man-made openings that supported a ton of springbock and blesbok. Even had some elephants and at least one rhino on the place which I actually petted....it was an orphaned thing that they had taken in. The staff would actually take it out for walks to start aclimating it to being in the bush.

Assuming it's been maintained over the past 6-7 years it's a good place to hunt.

I know that Craig Boddington hunted there this past summer on his swing thru Namibia. He has short hunt recaps on his web page about his hunts with Eden, Dirk de Bod, and my friends at Erindi. Sounds like Eden is a fine place to experience.
