???????????????? Honest, I made it up myself! Maybe the line was stuck in my memory somewhere. Interesting. I know of the scene you speak and I've got the movie, so I'll dig it out and check. It's when they're asking her who she wants to take the money to get her grandson back. Russ The doing of unpleasant deeds calls for people of an unpleasant nature.

Okay, here it is (I just checked the scene on my DVD of the movie). In reply to who should deliver the money, Maureen O'Hara says: "It is, I think, going to be a very... HARSH and UNPLEASANT kind of business... and will -- I think -- require an extremely HARSH and UNPLEASANT kind of man to see to it." This might have been stuck way back in the cobwebs of my mind, but I'm pretty sure I just came up with my signature line on my own -- because I've used it for years in conversation, too. Good movie, though. My favorite part is when John Wayne turns the tables on Richard Boone and tells him that "No matter what, I'm going to blow your head off. Your fault, my fault, nobody's fault, if anything goes wrong, I'm going to blow your head off"... or words to that effect. It's so "me." By the way, speaking of Richard Boone, my custom-made "Paladin" rig should be here in a few weeks. I've been in love with that gunbelt and holster since I was a little kid -- and that was a long, LONG time ago. Russ The doing of unpleasant deeds calls for people of an unpleasant nature.

I served in the Army twenty-nine years, active and reserve. Funny, y'know, young troops resent and make fun of "lifers" and the next thing they know, that's what they've become. I prefer the term Old Zebras from all the stripes. The tag line? It's simply true. End of discussion. Sarge Holland's .375: One Planet, One Rifle . . . for one hundred years!

I thought I was quoting Mark Twain. But spurred by your question, I actually looked it up on the internet and found I was abridging the great master. So, I am fixing that now. The true quote is as follows: "No man's life, liberty or property are safe while the legislature is in session." That is true. Government can do great mischief with our rights, not to say great evil. We do have to watch the bastards constantly and oust them regularly, or pay the consequences. Here are some more I found on the net that I love: 1. Suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a member of Congress. But I repeat myself. --Mark Twain (1868) 2. We contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle. --Winston Churchill (1935) 3. A government which robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul. --George Bernard Shaw 4. A liberal is someone who feels a great debt to his fellow man, which debt he proposes to pay off with your money. --G. Gordon Liddy 5. Democracy must be something more than two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner.--James Bovard, Civil Libertarian (1994) 6. Foreign aid might be defined as a transfer from poor people in rich countries to rich people in poor countries. --Douglas Casey, Classmate of W. J. Clinton at Georgetown U. (1992) 7. Giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys. --P.J. O'Rourke, Civil Libertarian 8. Government is the great fiction, through which everybody endeavours to live at the expense of everybody else. --Frederic Bastiat, French Economist 9. Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it. --Ronald Reagan (1986) 10. I don't make jokes. I just watch the government and report the facts. --Will Rogers Mike Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.

I kind of adapted my tagline from a sign on my first cabin cruiser that says: "Boating is not a matter of life and death. It is more important than that." THE LUCKIEST HUNTER ALIVE!

My tag-line nicely sums up some of the more important things in life, and at the same time shows the Kipling is an author worth reading. I have not yet been able to find the exact source of the quotation, despite reading a lot of Kipling, but I have recently joined the Kipling Society so hopefully I will soon be able to tell you where it originally is published. My nickname is an abbreviation of my first name and surname, with a Latin "us" added to give it an old-world touch! I'm going to pinch that line from you and one day you will see why. If you can find the original reference for it in Kipling, it will be worth at least a bottle of wine for you! *** Right, I'm going to get this one in for prosperity before it is seen on a "Lonely Planet" episode or whatever. When talking about greenies I refer to them as:- "Just a plastic monkey in a concrete jungle." ie a urban "greenie" living in a city environment out of touch with the reality of nature but being an armchair expert on it. OK I'll repeat it ad nauseam so as to make it famous.

Actually my tag is trapmonkey, cos that is what i am i shoot a heck of a lot of olympic trap. quote is an original, stemming from a funny incident when we were talking logistics and provisions. a tired friend thought he heard "coolerbok" for coolerbox and asked with a perfectly ernest tone "is that some new african antelope?" ha ha ha....needless to say his tag is now coolerbok! "one of the most common african animals is the common coolerbok(or coleman's coolerbok). Many have been domesticated and can be found in hunting camps, lodges and in the back of vehicles."

Well since you brought it up, Russ, my blatant plagarism of old TV show titles hasn't gotten me sued yet so I guess nobody from Warner Bros hangs out on AR. Seemed like a nice tag line for hired guns or sometime safari hunters. "Blacktailer" is because I've been hunting blacktail deer for over 40 years.
