I have a very large library of old African hunting books.

I am going to scan some of them for your reading pleasure, and post them on the Books Forum.

Following is a link to the first two chapters of this book.

I hope you enjoy reading how it was in those days.

My Somali Book, by Captain A.H.E. Mosse F.Z.S

Can someone please shed a light on copy rights??

Had a friend over for dinner, he is a lawyer - I know, I don't like lawyers, but he is my friend, and I still tell him I do not like lawyers! clap

We were talking about book copy rights, and he said 50 years.

Is this correct?

I did look up some websites on the subject, and they seem to say the same with so many words.

It may vary from country to country. My understanding was copyright ceases 50 years after the authors death. The exception is if someone applies for the copyright. A famous example of this is Great Ormond Street Childrens Hospital which has the rights to the Winnie the Pooh books.

Once you have a friend like Walter, you tend to like everyone!

Even lawyers! clap

I have uploaded all this book.

It is all there for your enjoyment.

And to make it easier to find them, I have added a link to my thread at the top of that forum.

Everything will be linked there as well.

We've been waiting. . . . . . dancing

And remember, you and I are the same age(just brothers from different mothers), so don't wait until it's too late for either one of us-you to write the book, or me to read it. rotflmo animal wave

Very interesting. Thank you so much, Saeed!

Maybe it’s possible to make a PDF archive? It will be easier to download and read without Internet.

You can download the photos and put them into any of several free programs on the Internet that are supposed to turn them in pdf.

The scanner we are using is supposed to scan in pdf as well, but it is a weird and complicated way.

So for simplicity - for me, at least - I have decided to post them as .jpgs.

You have given me a idea.

I will zip all the photos of each book into one zipped file and post it.

Then members can download that and read it off line.

Thank you for the suggestion.

Saeed why don't you write a book? You have more experience in African hunting than half the old timers who wrote the old books, and few of the early ivory hunters of the 1900-1935, where no more experienced than you as far as years of hunting for all manor of game that in those days where simply camp supplies shot for meat.

I think a book by you along with video documentation, would be a very interesting read!

I'm nearing the end of a book printed in 1956 by Col. Charles Askins. "Asian Jungle, African Bush".
Filled with his hunting stories, guns, missed
shots, fun times and sharing with others.
Very good read.
