Now I need info on the recovery of Rhino. Any pointers to verifiable info would be greatly appreciated.

The statement I need to support is as follows...

"One hundred years ago the white rhino was nearly wiped out through its range. The fate of the species rested on a few specimens for years when CITES allowed the export of certain trophies. Reopening trophy hunting created real value for these animals prompting many more parties to participate in Rhino breeding and conservation. This has directly led to the present day where the White Rhino is no longer in danger of extinction. Sadly CITES did not open black rhino hunting and it has not faired nearly as well. "

Thanks for the help

John

Black Rhino was opened on a very limited basis a few years ago in RSA and Namibia. A couple animals were taken. Some are trying to raise them as they did the Whites but they have a nasty disposition and are harder to deal with, or so I've been told. Don't know of the current status of a Black breeding program.
