A hunter goes home:

.366torqueI'm sorry to hear of this.
Bryan Smith was "on the horns of a dilemna" that lesser mortals would not survive. Apparently he got a good laugh out of it too, after it was done.
But even he was no match for a buffalo, or, sadly, the cape buffalo just got lucky.
St. Finn will welcome him to the Happy Hunting Ground.

What a great story to treasure! Sounds like a life well lived forging good memories in the bush.
Thanks for sharing ALF. RIP Bryan.

No state commands such fierce pride and loyalty. Lesser mortals are pitied for their misfortune in not being born in Texas.— Queen Elizabeth II on her visit to Texas in May, 1991.

Use Enough GunSad to hear of his demise.

You never know when a slight mistake or inattention may cost you your life, especially with any wild animals.

I did not know of Bryan, but really enjoyed the story ALF. Thanks for telling it here. RIP Bryan, I'm sure you would have been a friend.

Michael RobinsonGreat story ALF.
Too young, right? And clearly full of life.
Still, I have to think that a man who would wrestle a waterbuck through the thorns for 200 yards is not a man who would ever expect, or even want, to die in bed!
Godspeed.
Mike
Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.
I wish peace to Bryan and his family.
I suspect he was doing what pleased him the most.
ALF, a very nice story. I'm sure he enjoyed it.
