SteveGlNamibia CBNRM Income
Maybe someone can help clear something up for me. Most of the income to Namibia’s communal conservancies comes from either Trophy Hunting or what is always referred to as “Joint-Venture-Tourism”; with considerably more coming from Joint-Venture-Tourism (which is code for photo-safaris).
But as I understand it, some trophy hunting is also conducted under a joint-venture agreement between the conservancies and outfitters.
So what I suspect is that the numbers are weighted in favor of Joint-Venture-Tourism to diminish the value of trophy hunting to the conservancies. In other words, the “Joint-Venture-Tourism” numbers also include some trophy hunting revenues. No?
Can anyone clear this up? Thanks.
