Harry SelbyThanks for welcome to campfire
Hello to all of you around the campfire whose messages of welcome on my first visit are most appreciated.
I regret that I have been unable to respond as I should have wished due to a constant problem with my connection to the server.
I hope to have a new system in place early next month which will be faster and more reliable and I will endeavor to be more active in the Forum on subjects which I might know something about.
In the meantime I’ll say ‘Cheers’ and look forward to seeing you all soon.
Harry.

CrazyhorseconsultingMr. Selby, your experience and knowledge is more than Welcome around this campfire any time you can make it.
I will never make it to Africa to hunt, but I have read of your exploits many times and look forward to hearing more about your career in the bush.

Even the rocks don't last forever.

I look forward to hearing from you more regularly when you get them solved.
We will certainly be the richer for it!
Cheers!

Hunting in Africa is an adventure. The number of variables involved preclude the possibility of a perfect hunt. Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt.
Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry
Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure.

McCrayWelcome to AR Mr. Selby. You, or perhaps more accurately, writing about you, has influenced a lot of us over the years.
I also remember an article you wrote for Sports Afield a few years ago on the Maytag elephant. Are you going to write any more articles?

Hey! That July issue should be in the mailbox right about now.
Legendary authorship has returned to the
American Rifleman.

Welcome aboard, sir!
I look forward to hearing great stories and learning from one who has been there, seen it, and done it!
Post on.

Bwana Harry,
I did not find your story in the July 2009
American Rifleman.
That was delivered in June.
Maybe it will be in the August and September
dated issues that will be
delivered in July and August?
I'll be looking for the two-parter.

Idaho SharpshooterRobert Ruark's stories of his safaris with you are what started me on a long trip to Africa that I finally got to make about six months ago. The most famous quote in African Lore "Cape Buffalo; they look at you as if you owe them money...". That got me to Zimbabwe and a good bull.
Thanks for all you have done for us over half a century.

Mr Selby,
So good to see you are doing well and entering the forum.
I had the pleasure of meeting you in 2007 with Chris Collins, we had just taken a good bull elephant and you signed Ruarks book for me there in Maun.
Will look forward to your posts.

Dear Harry,
There are just not only problems with computers in Botswana!
My ordinary computer was blown up in a lightning that set fire on our neighbours house (50 paces away!) two days ago -totally burned out (a close shave indeed), so I can't email you this message.
A good friend of mine is coming to The Crocodile lodge, outside Maun on Monday evening, leaving for a photo safari in the delta on Tuesday morning. You will have a small parcel to collect at the reception of the lodge.
Best regards

Hi Matts,
Many thanks for the info... Ken told me about your computer problems last evening. They are having phone problems and now rely on a small modem for their computer, Hope all well with the Bergholm family.., Is your e-mail address still the same... I have sent a couple of e-mails to you... no reply.. I understand why now.
Cheers,
Harry.
Harry,
Your "The Kwaheri Safari," Part I, is in the August 2009
American Rifleman, delivered to my mailbox today.
Review to follow.

Haraka,
You have done well.
Hope the "Kwaheri Safari Part One" is an excerpt from the book you are writing.
I am anxious for "Part Two" ... waiting for the hundred-pounder to fall.
The anticipation of it all!

JustinL01Mr. Selby,
You can tell I'm a young guy here, because the first time I read about you was in an article written in Petersen's Hunting by Joe Coogan about a Botswana elephant hunt where I believe he used your .416 to take a nice bull. Since then I've come to read a lot of Ruark's books and have to say, I really believe you are truly a legend and I'll read all of your posts here thru wide eyes. I just read your article (Part I, anyway) about Ruark's last elephant hunt, it was a good one! All of the above mentioned articles are part of what inspired me to start saving for Africa! Thank-you and everyone else involved!
I heal fast and don't scar.
