Does any one know what caliber requirements are for Namiba and Botswana are? I have tried finding info but all I have found is this on the Namibia Professional Hunting Association:"Smallest caliber 7 mm. Minimum energy (Eo - muzzle velocity): 1350 Joule for springbuck, duiker etc. 2700 Joule for hartebeest, wildebeest, kudu, gemsbuck, eland etc. 5400 Joule for buffalo, elephant, rhino etc. No solid point cartridge is allowed to be used on antelope or any other species." How do Joule translate in caliber bullet wt. ect..? What can't be taken with a .338 Win Mag 250gn. @ 2650fps or 275gn.@ 2500fps?Can I shoot a buff?Legally anyway. Do I "need" to add a rem. .416 to my .338 win Mag? Will my .338 work for it all? Or would I be better served by the good ol' .375 and call it good? Lion and elephant are not on the menu. I'm planing on spending some time each year not necessarily on a hunting safari. I would prefer one gun to cover it all.Recommendations? Allen

Quick response. Yes, your .338 can do it all except Buff and Elephant. You may be a little over gunned for the small stuff but that beats under gunned any day. Most African countries have a minimum requirement of .375 for dangerous game. I believe South Africa is the one notable exception. Regardless, I wouldn't try Buffalo with a .338 even if it were legal. Great caliber, just not big enough for me. DC300
