Here's an odd question. What do you think are some of the most common first names for P.H.'s in africa? It seems to me there are several Johan's, John's and Nico's. Also, what are some of the oddest names you've heard of.

Seen a PH Johan or two. But the most fabulous names I've encountered are those of the trackers, like Gift, Lennox or Welcome.

Several years ago, my family and I booked a hunt in RSA with a PH by the name of Frikkie. Unfortunately, we ended up cancelling the hunt due to financial reasons.

I thought that all PH's were required to be named either Ian or Peter. Perhaps that's only in novels.

We can all try to be clever, but I hereby solmly declare that Ignobilis is the clear winner. The most often herd name for a PH is undoubtedly "Baas". I venture to say the next in popularity is "Daars hy baas!".

In good hunting.

One can cure:

Lack of knowledge – by instruction. Lack of skills – by practice. Lack of experience – by time doing it.

One cannot cure:

Stupidity – nothing helps! Anti hunting sentiments – nothing helps! Put-‘n-Take Outfitters – money rules!

My very long ago ancestors needed and loved to eat meat. Today I still hunt!
