Since most of us won't get back to Africa for several months at least, I thought it would be nice to share some of our favorite photos. Most of my good scenic photography is Alaskan not African but here is one from this summer that won't mean much to anyone but me perhaps.

I got this in an email from a photo blog. The photographer was Evy Johansen. I thought it was a nice composition.

Here is another favorite that I believe Saeed posted one time.

Then some favorites from Ivan Carter who also happens to be an award winning photographer himself...

What are some of your favorite African photos? We could all use some more good screensavers!

I like that cheetah photo. That's a big one. I would love to see one but haven't hunted in their areas yet.

Here's a couple from Zimbabwe this October.

Victoria Falls

The view from the veranda of the Victoria Falls Hotel towards the falls and the old steam train bridge.

Elephants at Chobe N.P.

A Cape Buffalo resting in the shade [it was plenty hot that day!].

And one from the Eastern Cape of South Africa

Enjoy! [YD, this is a really good idea!]

YD, excellent idea. Here are few from our Lungwa Safari.

Hippo in the Lungwa river

Retrieving Hippo: I would never do this, there were at least 40 Hippos not 50 Yrds from them and god knows how many crocs, can you see one croc approaching?

Lion Bait

Can you see the Elephant?

Elephant was easy, can you see the Lionesses, how many there are?

We were watching Kudus as this Rock Python decided to cross the track right in front of us, we would have drove over it had one of our trakker from the back not shouted Snake.

Machan for lion hunt, we spent a very interesting night up there.

Few of the lionesses, which regularly fed on lion baits

Leopard Kill: saw a leopard jump out of this tree and on inspection we found his kill

Wow guys. Those are some nice pics. Wish I had a little more skill behind the lense. I've seen a lot of amazing things over there but they are just stuffed into the back of my head.

I knew you would be along shortly to add some Dave. Good stuff. The one ele photo looked like the escarpment area? Sunset photos around water often turn out nice.

How about some bird photos like fish eagles, hornbills, etc?

Yukon Delta

Good day to you Sir. That ele picture was taken on the Zambezi River, and that is the Zambian escarpment in the background.
I do have some bird pictures and will post a few shortly. They are not that great I'm afraid, but my dad has some awesome ones and I'll try and sponge a few tomorrow.
Great thread, by the way, and super photos from everyone.

I like the maize sign...especially with the drawing of the head with the missing teeth.

Nice bird photos from all. Someone needs to post a photo of a turaco (go away bird) that is the nemesis of many safaris.

I have never seen a zebra like that. What do they call that pattern?

I haven't seen a pangolin in person yet either. Anyone seen an aardwolf? There are so many oddities over there.

How about a honey guide? Africa has so many interesting birds.

Wow! Some absolutely beautiful pics there, thank you so much to everyone who shared your pics! Please don't stop though! Some of the sunsets were amazing, especially with the silhouettes of animals and trees in the foreground.

David, some of behaviour and expressions of the animals that you captured were fantastic. The lioness and lion in the dry river bed, with him making a little mock charge advance captured both their 1000 yard stare that goes right through you. That large ellie cow on the hillside, giving you that, 'if you come closer see what happens next' look too! Also the four ellies making tracks in a hurry with tails out after having caught human scent.

Mark, sheez, what a sight to see! I am sure very few people can say that they have seen a pangolin and more importantly the evidence to prove it. In Southern Africa at least they are like gold, not sure about East Africa? Shakari, is that a wire trace leader protruding from that croc's mouth? Not the first time guys have hooked crocs when tiger-fishing! I think the general consensus would have been agreed to cut the line, and lose the expensive Rapalla!

Bill C's son held a wild pangolin in Zim. He has a photo of that on one of his trip reports. Very cool.

I realize I don't have a John Sharp physique but I can always delete the photo if anyone thinks I should. But Africa is full of contrasts and I see many of them. There was no intent to be offensive.
