Hello,

It looks like I will be going to RSA for work in early November of this year. I have been planning on taking a safari in the near future, and I was wondering even though the timing is late in the season if I could piggyback a short hunting trip after my business.

I understand the prep time is short, but I spend a lot of time out in the field in a variety of climates some of them much hotter than SA ever gets.

I do not know where in SA I will be on business as that will be dictated to me by others as the plans solidify but I can easily take intra-country transportation once I am there. In general since I have flown all the way there from North America I figure I might as well take advantage of the free ticket.

I am very willing to take suggestions of PH's and areas as I have not spent a lot of time researching this. I have spent some time in the last year looking at safaris in general but have not planned one.

I am pretty thick skinned so if this is a stupid idea just let me know.

Thanks for your time.

There are game farms/ranches all over SA. Shouldn't be difficult to find a place to hunt.

That's not a stupid idea or question. It is very doable depending on where you go and what you want to do. Do you have a rough idea of where you are going...even what province? Are you wide open or do you have any preferences? Budget and time available?

Find out where you will be as you will want to know what species are available to hunt. If your free time is short you will want to find a property near your work area to maximize your time in the field.

Depending on the area you will be in I can offer some very good PH and property suggestions.

Although our season closes "traditionaly" in August, trophy hunting can still be done the whole year through.

Just book a trip, you will not regret it for one second......

I send you a PM.

wade,

Welcome to AR.
If you are going to be in the northern part of the country I have a late season special running at the moment. Just follow the link to view it.
Late season PG special

From November unfortunately you could be hit by rain and the temperatures also start to get high especially before the rains.

But like you said in your post you have worked at worse places.

I always try to use enough gun but then sometimes a brainshot works just as good.

Hi,
Sounds like a great idea, wish I was coming with you.

I second Snipers recommendation of contacting Tino at TG Safaris. The man is very flexible and has always been able to offer me a fair deal.

Have a good one,

Cewe

Jaco Human (a PH and member here on AR) arranged a hunt for me which I piggybacked on to a business trip. He had very short notice and did a very good job of tailoring my hunt to my desires. You might want contact him directly and discuss options with him as well.
