on the airports and airplane? Do you read, listen to music, sleep ect? Some of the flights take up to 26 hours to land in South Africa. I take my laptop with me and watch some DVDs on it, plus a book and some magazines. We usually fly Emirates, and they have a very large selection of films on show, and they have a nother large selection of video tapes one can choose from in their Business and First class. And if Walter is along it is quite a job keeping him from getting up to some mischief! One time he had an H&K catalogue with him, and during the flight asked one of the cabin staff about how to get down to the luggage hold. When asked why, he showed him an MP5 sub-machine gun and said he had forgotten it in his suitcase!

Now that is funny!! I travel a bit on longer flights and for me the i-pod and noise cancelling headphones are worth their weight in gold. If you have some work to do, that seems to make the time go by a little faster. All the standard advice you hear about getting out of your seat to walk around, a little exercise and drinking lots of water should always be followed. Also, sitting in the front of the plane is much better if you can swing it - I can't very often. Phil

I read and sleep on the plane. At the airports I usually find a good place to smoke a good cigar. I'll make sure you get some good 'ol Texas BBQ when you get here..... Bob There is room for all of God's creatures....right next to the mashed potatoes. http://texaspredatorposse.ipbhost.com/

I generally sleep as long as I can on the first leg of the trip! After the sleep, I get up, and walk around the plane,to guard against deep muscle trombosis, go to the bathroom, and wash up, bursh my teeth, and shave! Then I sit back and either watch a movie, or listen to music, and read a magazine till on final approch, I get my papers together for customs, so I don't have to dig for them on line! I find this system leaves no Jet lag at all, and I'm ready to travel as soon as I clear customs! ....Mac >>>===(x)===> MacD37, ...and DUGABOY1 DRSS Charter member "If I die today, I've had a life well spent, for I've been to see the Elephant, and smelled the smoke of Africa!"~ME 1982 Hands of Old Elmer Keith

Agreed. When I can fly on Emirates or Qatar Air they always have tons of stuff to give out as well as the large selection of music and videos to watch. "Let me start off with two words: Made in America"

I fly the B777 for a living and I get this question alot. I always have a few good books along, not much of a movie watcher unless it's watching Saeed thumping buffalo, my seatmates always enjoy that! I like to talk to people that I meet, eat, sleep, and start over again! My longest flight was 19 hours, it was from New York to Delhi with 3 a hour ATC hold thrown in. The New York-Dubai flight is a real slog too. I have noticed that alot of people like doing the sudoku(sp??) puzzles lately. In the near future wireless internet service will be commonplace and that will be a huge benefit for me personally, we can all hang out on AR on our way to the hunting grounds! JOIN SCI!

Read, talk to other hunters and interesting people, watch movies, listen to music, sleep (very little), eat and drink. When on a layover, I try and see the local sights rather than sit in the airport, if there's time to do so. Always take pics when I am able to do so. By the way Jakkals, your phrase "Aim Small, Miss Small" came from black powder enthusiast Mark Baker who taught Mel Gibson how to shoot blackpowder in the movie: The Patriot. Gibson liked the advice so well he wrote it into his lines in the movie. It's very good advice for all hunters and shooters.

Start off with three books, at every stop buy another. Try to get a little sleep.

On the flight over I usually sleep very little. Usually read. A couple dull novels will kill a flight. On the return flight I am asleep before the plane gets into the air and sleep most of the ride home. Then I start planning the next trip... On my way back from RSA in 2005, I was seated next to a 23 year old Russian law student. She spoke no english and was conservatively a 9.6 outta 10! We spent 10 hours talking to each other with the help of a Russian-English dictionary (and drinking wine of course ). Meanwhile, my hunting partner was seated across the aisle amongst a Swedish figure skating team. I felt like I owed my travel agent a big bonus after that flight. I wish you all flights like that. Cheers, Canuck

I take a book or two and my Gameboy. My hunting buddy takes an Ambien and wakes up when we get there. I usually am too excited to sleep. I do that when I get home! When catapults are outlawed, only outlaws will have catapults!

I took an Ambien on the flight over and it didn't do anything. I actually never really felt what I would call jetlag. I was too interested everything to be tired. When I got home, I beat jetlag by going hog hunting 12 hours after I returned. _______________________________
