Please take the time to click on the link and vote for the Chiredzi River Conservancy elephants. As many of you know, these elephants have been under extreme pressure for some time and it is only due to the fantastic work done by Mrs Theresa Warth and a few others that they have not all been wiped out. I know that winning the $5000 would be a big boost for Theresa, the CRC and the elephants. If everyone active on this forum votes for the CRC, they will win.
Thanks SBT, I appreciate it and I'm certain Gary and Theresa Warth will think it helps, even if what we manage to drum up only gives them an outside chance. I have no doubt that a large chunk of the money spent so far on those elephants and other CRC survivors has come from the Warths personally. I feel for those good folk and don't know how they manage to keep trucking against those odds. They, like countless others, were robbed of an income some time ago. God bless that hardcore Zimbabwean spirit, that unbreakable bond with this land that so many Zimbabweans have. I read a fair amount about how Zimbabweans don't do anything to improve their own situation, and I weigh up that regurgitated online drivel (mostly from Zimbabweans living abroad, it should be noted) against what I see here on the ground: The paraplegic Zimbabwean who has arranged the donation of hundreds of wheelchairs for disabled Zimbos, and as coach of the national wheelchair basketball team hopes to take Zim to the paralympics; the wildlife landowners and their workers in the lowveld who have lived under unbearable strain for a decade but won't give in; the ladies who still finance all the SPCA centers countrywide; the passionate cricket supporters who pack the stands to watch Zim get pumped time and again, never accepting defeat until the last ball is bowled, always believing....
That is why this country will eventually get back on track. Because of belief.
Thanks guys. I have just had a look and the CRC is lying about 4th or 5th, but the leaders have commanding leads, about 3 with 2000 plus... But there is still 12 days to go and I am targeting sizeable Zim groups on Facebook and elsewhere so who knows....

No state commands such fierce pride and loyalty. Lesser mortals are pitied for their misfortune in not being born in Texas.— Queen Elizabeth II on her visit to Texas in May, 1991.
1000 votes! Thank you good people, what a fantastic effort from everyone. When my friend Tracey Moolman noted this a couple of days ago, the CRC had 280 votes...Still a long way to go, but we are on the right track and gaining fast on complacent leaders. Some of you know the Chiredzi conservancy and, like myself, have fond memories of it. What you may not know is that there are still a few people there fighting with all their might for the wildlife that remains in the area. I know I can speak for those people when I thank you profusely. I think this is less about the money than about awareness. For those of you on Facebook or who belong to other hunter/conservation sites, please share this link and help us to give these elephants, their guardians and Zimbabwe in general a boost.
