Export permit baboon
Export permit baboon
Hi Gents
I hear there are some problems having export permits fore baboon trophies from the Limpopo province right now.
Can some one tell me what is going on?
And will there be an opening fore export permits from the Limpopo province of Baboons later this year.

500nitroWisent,
as I recall all primates are on a cites 2 schedule so this could have something to do with it?

While on the subject of baboon trophies, I shot a baboon in Tanzania in 2006. I had the trophy shipped and did a shoulder pedestal mount with it's mouth open. It is not too big, does not take up much room and really looks neat. These seem to be an underrated trophy room addition.

David CulpepperLast July on our trip we decided to hunt baboon and we got a permit in a couple of hours. Not sure if this is the same permit required to export as I did not keep it since I was unsuccessful on getting a baboon.
Good Hunting,

Karamojo BillI'm going to RSA in 2009 to hunt and baboons is on the list. All I want is the skull. Do you think I'll have any problems?

At then end of my time here, I want to come skidding through the Pearly Gates & hear God say, "Whoa Boy, that was a hell of a ride!"
Are you referring to the permit needed to hunt a baboon in the Limpopo or the permit needed to ship one out of the country via the taxidermist?
The danger of civilization, of course, is that you will piss away your life on nonsense

butchlocproblem with babos is the CDC. these are brain diseases that primates can transfer to humans, so you need a cdc permit
Gents .
I just know the taxerdermist say they are struggling to get export permits for baboons.
So it must be the permit to get the baboon trophy out of za there is the problem special fore the limpopo province

Aspen Hill AdventuresI was not allowed to export my Limpopo Valley baboon skull from 2005. I was told the regulations changed shortly
after my hunt.
Obtaining US permits are not a problem for primates. Limpopo says they are endangered so no one in Limpopo was going to issue clearance for it.
Mine was a bit special as he was an archery kill from a ground blind. Not an easy hunt as it was a 30 yard shot. He was also a prime male, teeth were not broken and worn. Yes, I was stuck paying the trophy fee.

Endangered? They were all over the place last year. They just went into hiding or stayed a long distance away when we started to hunt them.
Good Hunting,
I will have to snap a picture tonight and will post then. I will say that my wife and daughter did feel that I had crossed an undefined civility line in shooting and then having a primate mounted. That said, I have been assigned one room in the house for all of my trophies and I think candidly they find the baboon only marginally more disguisting than the others. I will say that the baboon is an eye catcher. The first thing folks mention when they walk in the room is the baboon.

375 fanaticLimpopo has moved the baboons to the protected game schedule and a permit is required it is also on cites appendix 2
your outfitter must get you a permit for the baboon before you shoot it and then the cites documentation then you wont have problems exporting it
"Buy land they have stopped making it"- Mark Twain
huuum thanks 375fanatic .
Then I think I can say goodbye to my baboon

.
The outfitter/taxirdermist use to get the permit after the hunting just before the export from the taxidermist.
But now wwhen the limpopo province have mowed the baboon after the hunt have taken place the permit to shoot the baboon i diff to get I think. Hope the taxirdermist can do some thing to get a export permit.
