To start off, I’d like to state what this thread is not about. It is not intended to be a compare/contrast, praise/bash one website over the other. That has been done before in other threads. If you wish to do that, please do so in another thread. This thread is also not about recruiting anyone from AR to AH. I have been a member of both websites for quite a few years now. I enjoy and have learned much from both. There is plenty of room in this world for each website to exist in my opinion. Furthermore, before starting this thread I also communicated with Saeed my intention to do so but asking first if he was okay with it. If he wasn’t, I would not have posted this thread.

So what is the intent? Well I started an annual get together for the AH guys at DSC in 2013, which has continued every year since. We started small but have steadily grown over the years to where we had in excess of 150 people last year at our gathering at Gilley’s. I know that a number AR guys used to meet for a dinner at DSC, but from what I gathered in perusing threads this past week is it does not appear there will be an AR dinner this year. As such, I wanted to extend an invitation to the AR community to join the AH group.

As mentioned we will be having this at Gilley’s, which will be our third year there. The size of the group has grown to where we need a fairly large room and Gilley’s can provide that within the downtown area. We will have plenty of room at Gilley’s to be able to move about and be able to socialize. The atmosphere is casual and we have a great time. Format is a drink or two before dinner, then dinner followed by more drinks, laughs and tall tales.

You do have to sign up for the dinner and pay in advance. And once paid there are no refunds. With a group this size, that just gets to be unmanageable. You DO NOT have to be a member of AH to come to the dinner. Just sign up and pay and you’re in. Please visit this link for more specifics and how to sign up:

Hope to meet some of you guys there!

I'm sorry but I will not be able to attend, business before pleasure during our convention. Please let me know if I can assist you in any way.

In checking, currently there are over 100 signed up for the dinner/get-together.

I believe that was the requirement for booking the room.

So there is still time for others to sign up if you would like to attend.

The 100 number was a minimum, not a maximum. We had 150 or so last year and that was in a smaller room. So we have plenty room for more.

This year will be my fourth AH DSC dinner and I always have a great time.

Here's hoping some of our AR brothers will join us!

Saeed - thanks for being such a great host/bwana.
