The live video feed of the African waterhole, was pirated, and is now incripted, with a message of where to view it legally, when you try to pull it up! I guess the pary is over, on that one! I wondered why it was on so long without some sort of advertizing for the lodge! I guess we know now! Eeker

Just go to wavelit.com and scroll down and select the waterhole and view as before. I just saved it to my favorites at that point and it works fine.

I guess they didn't like the direct link Now you have to watch a few adds before the water hole comes into view.

Here's that link: http://wavelit.com/?ch=Wildlife&sh=africam

Here is a cleaner place to view it within a window: http://www.wavelit.com/popup/playerAfricam.asp

Shame though, as it was really nice to play in Windows Media Player, minimized on the Windows Task Bar.

Geoff, from the 2nd location posted - http://www.wavelit.com/popup/playerAfricam.asp - position the mouse pointer over the video feed and click the left-button twice. This will take it to full-screen mode. Or, there is a button the the control panel of the player, right next to the volume controls, that will do this too. Hit the ESC key on the keyboard to rtn to normal mode.

You can also resize the window (by grabbing the bottom right-hand corner of the window and dragging it up and left) so that basically only the video screen feed is displayed, so it looks like this:

Still, as my 9 year old daughter just informed me...not as nice as viewing it in Windows Media Player. Frowner

I found the version that plays in Windows Media Player. Smiler

Option #1:
Highlight, Copy then Paste into your web browser the following:
mms://live.wildlife.wavelit.net/6192NKP

You can add this to your Media Player sites - OR better yet save it to your IE Favorites - OR BEST yet create a link to it on the Windows Desktop (on the main Windows start-up screen, click the right mouse button once, select NEW, then SHORTCUT, paste the address above in, name it "Africam" then click FINISH).

Option #2:
Or, just click on the hyperlink: http://live.wildlife.wavelit.net/6192NKP (edited - just found this)

Thanks Bill!

I also enjoy having it play in WMP. I minimize it in the taskbar so I get a small screen to keep an eye on for things to show up and get the cool Africa sounds.

Cheers,
Canuck

Bill, sometimes the link will start playing in my media player and sometimes I get this note:

"Windows Media Player cannot play the file. If the file is located on the Internet, connect to the Internet. If the file is located on a removable storage card, insert the storage card."

Any ideas on what I can do to fix this?

Forrest - The site is down in general now, as the other ones at wavelit are not working either. http://wavelit.com/ is down.

Added - Looks like they have been having issues tonight (Sat), maybe external to them ("DNS").

There is a whole forum of "cammers" dedicated to the Africam (pretty cool, I just joined), including the people who operate the cameras. Right now they cannot access it either: http://www.africam.com/boma/viewforum.php?f=12

It's up and down now....should be healed by tomorrow...

I was listening to my GF's son playing hockey (JR A - BCHL) on wavelit.com. It stopped playing when I clicked on your link....I was wondering if I messed it up by trying out your link while the hockey game was also on! Red Face

I wouldn't be surprised if it was a huge influx of traffic from this website that crashed it!!

Cheers,
Canuck

Sun morning, camera is backup, although a high-pitched noise (mute the volume).

And I found on their forum the hyperlink for the WMP version:

There were attacks on some of the root DNS servers yesterday / last night. That may have been the cause of the connection problems.
