I am curious to know what our Zimbabwe members are using to conduct commerce. Can you still use Zim dollars with the inflation rate as is? Have you switched to Rand, US dollars or Euros? Is it a barter system? Is all your banking offshore now? STAY IN THE FIGHT!

I wouldn't expect an answer to your question as the Zim CIA or whatever may be listening! Ray Atkinson Atkinson Hunting Adventures 10 Ward Lane, Filer, Idaho, 83328 208-731-4120 rayatkinsonhunting@gmail.com

Big BoreCore, if you want to buy anything you better have US$ or SA Rands. Not a lot of Euros around. Some places you get away with buying with the NEW IMPROVED Zim moeny, but the farther it is from bigger centres, the less likely they are to take it. USD are NOW legally accepted in a number of places, it is not the official currency but working sort of in parrallel in some instances. This move is nothing new regionally, it has been working very successfully in Zambia for a number of years particularily at places frequented by international travellers etc It is a good move as it gives Zimbabwe a buffer against their worthless currency. Two weeks ago the menu in the coffee shop in the Vic Falls airport had prices in Zim $$ and US $$. To enter Zim with rifles, you have to pay $30 US. A wounded elephant entered the Cheti Safari Area and we had to go get a govt. game scout to go with us there. We had to pay $50 US. All trophy fees etc. were US $$. The natives use Zim currency for their ordinary purchases. Indy Life is short. Hunt hard.

We use US$ in the North and Rand in the west, in general. Zim $ are in very short supply and only used for official transactions and small grocery items, eg utilities, post office, firearms licenses etc. Where someone will accept a cheque - like the utilities, this is fine, where they want cash, this can be a real problem. For my last firearms renewal, I couldn't find a black market trader with any cash and so the wife ended up standing in a bank queue for four days to draw enough! Was she ever blest! Drive 12km a day, stand in a queue for an hour each day all for the "privaledge" of being allowed to withdraw less than 1US$ worth of Zim cash!
