Balla BallaRaw Trophies via JFK !!
Dear AR guests ..
Being very clued up people I provide this information to our forum guests (which I rec'd from a hunting organisation in Africa) for your perusal and (follow up comment/s) as deemed appropriate
Cheers, Peter

For those importing "unprocessed trophies" from overseas, please instruct your shippers (prior to sending payment) NOT to route your trophies via JFK because USDA will require your shipment terminated in JFK and clear through customs, USDA and Fish & Wildlife at same port.
In essence, even if you are paying all the way to SFO or Atlanta or LAX,etc., your trophies will have to be dispatched or shipped from JFK to the designated approved facility at your own expense.
Aside from this, clearance fees and physical examination fees in JFK are very expensive. Typical charge for a USDA inspection requiring a broker to be present is anywhere from $100 to $250 and same price on a Fish & Wildlife exam plus customs bond.
We already disseminated this info to the freight agents we deal with overseas but would like to make sure that YOU tell your outfitters, p.h., dip and pack or taxidermists and freight agents to avoid shipping to JFK unless your final shipment destination is JFK.

L. David KeithThanks for the thread Balla. That news is as confusing as our Government?????
Very few US trophy shipments will have JFK and the immediate area as their final destination. What I'm hearing is that ALL trophy shipments must clear USDA & USF&W at JFK before they will be released to their final destination. All it amounts to is another ploy to get money from hunters. This won't have anything to do with simplifying the process. Makes me wonder (for the 9,999th time) if these folks are employed by anti-hunting groups and not our Federal Gov't. LDK

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......
"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."
